What kind of options are there for cheap ultraportable (~13") laptops with good battery life?
I just want something to throw Debian onto for when I'm on the go. I have an old 15" laptop, but it's heavy and the first generation switchable graphics it has doesn't play nice with Linux.
I was looking at Dell offerings, since I can get a decent discount through my job, but seriously at $400 I'm close to just buying a used Macbook Air and replacing the battery. I had a 2013 Air for my old job and they were quite nice to throw in my bag so I could read papers when I was out of the lab.
Any suggestions? I've been looking for a few hours and while it's easy to find new $200 laptops and such, they seem to have the crappy "standard" 3-hour battery life. I was looking for something in the 6-10 hour range.

Oh I should mention I have a 240GB SSD lying around here- I don't give a shit if it has a mechanical drive, since I can easily replace it.

Chromebooks are good if you can get a compatible one. I've got a C720 4GB that is super nice.

Honestly looks kind of bulky, at $450 I could just buy a used Macbook Air

Intrigued by this, I see it uses a standard M.2 SSD
I'd have to buy an M.2 SSD, since 16GB is a little too small for me. They're cheap, though.

Definitely looking into these, honestly, I thought they used soldered on flash memory, but I saw the Thinkpad 13 at least has an M.2 slot
Battery, portability and price are my main concerns, and a good screen is a plus
Definitely gonna look into these
