Just got a HP Chromebook 14 for a steal (£100 used twice, the owner hated it)
I plan to use it as a secondary computer so is it worth whacking Linux on it or should I just leave it as the Chrome OS?
Anyone here done this?
I have read that they are ideal for Linux, but have yet to hear from first hand user experience. Anyone else tried this?

Just install Crouton and enjoy living in the cloud m8.

It is a chromebook.
There is already "linux" installed on it.
Although you should really install something which isnt botent software.
Turns out I got the Tegra model which is basically the worst for installing non-botnet Linux on it. Just my luck
To add this /chromebook/ thread, would an intel-based chromebook running crouton work well as a media player, specifically playing lossless audio (also streaming lower quality) to a nice integrated amp? I would also be streaming movies and live sports via Kodi, but music is the most important.
If not, any better suggestions? Thanks!
As someone said, it is based on Linux.
However, some are more compatible than others. Will cross tegra off the list.

Well I guess it comes down to, if you fell comfortable with knowing that Google spies on every move you make on your laptop?

literally the easiest device to install a linux distro on. essentailly since chromeos is so light and shitty you can directly run ubuntu/debian/kali in it sort of like a cross between a VM and dualboot.

Using crouton you mean?

Your statement suggests you have never touched a CB or tried a GNU/Linux install. Back to /v/ cunt.
