same exact issue happened on arch btw

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

I'm so fucking mad. i should be paid for this fucking gay shit.

I'm at an issue where it simply fails to create the session. Some sort of "jack doesnt have permission to run in real time" shit.

linux is garbage

ie for applications

you can't just sudo apt-get a program because half of the programs don't even have a repository, so you need to first install their repository, update the repository, and then download

then you have shit like qbittorrent where you can apt-get it, but it'll only install an old version of the program. you have to install the qbittorrent just to get the latest version

Take some more pasta just in case you're still hungry:
Not him but the no games argument is not true anymore. Windows is the best os for gaming mostly due to most game developers are trained into developing for it with microsoft's closed APIs, so the simple process of porting a game that was developed for windows to any other platform will affect negatively the performance of the game. This with the fact that the marketshare is small compared to windows there's hardly an incentive at the moment to optimize for linux, making look as if the platform were worse for games than windows when in fact to flip the situation you'll need to change the idiosyncrasies on the industry itself.

The fact though is that the situation on linux is not nearly the same than two years ago and now those who prefer linux over windows now can play games on it, helping to break the vicious circle, but still there's a lot of things to do for linux to compete in the gaming side. I anyone wants for this to change i recommend to play the games you can on linux when possible and ask for linux ports.

I notice some people doesn't want's for this to happen but if that the case let me ask (not directed specifically to the person i'm replying): how are any of you benefited in a meaningful way with the current situation? because i consider that keeping the statu quo just to have a tool to win an argument on what OS is better is not a meaningful thing. how having less options and practically being locked to MS products benefits you?

Turns out you are a scrub. I made it work on Slackware, of all things.
I had to compile it from slackbuilds, which means it was 15 minutes for manual dependency resolution and some configuration and 30 minutes for compilation.
Total time around 45 minutes, but my input was only around 15 minutes.
I'm on a laptop with integrated microphone so I can't really evaluate sound quality.
>>
>>58808171
>>58808186

This is all well and good, but this is a list of compromises you must make to use linux over windows.

All i can see from the 2nd post is "linux would be much better if devs supported it more than windows"

Which is massively fucking obvious, and they don't and they won't since there is no real benefit to changing to support <1% of the desktop market, especially considering that freetards don't actually like spending cash (inb4 humble bundle graphs of linux users spending more on average, you cucks are so desperate for decent software, you have to try and tempt devs with an additional 60c extra revenue).

You know clearly the situation and you grasp perfectly that it's a vicious circle, and you seem to understand that to break a vicious circle it's necessary to work. Yet why you try to mock linux users for supporting their platform? why do you have sttrong feelings against it? and in what way the "success" of that people will hurt you?

Just answer the question on the previous pasta directly:
>how are any of you benefited in a meaningful way with the current situation? because i consider that keeping the statu quo just to have a tool to win an argument on what OS is better is not a meaningful thing. how having less options and practically being locked to MS products benefits you?

>how are any of you benefited in a meaningful way with the current situation? because i consider that keeping the statu quo just to have a tool to win an argument on what OS is better is not a meaningful thing. how having less options and practically being locked to MS products benefits you?

It works. Linux offers nothing over windows, and since it's software library is full of inferior alternatives, it falls flat.

Why do I need to re learn how to basic tasks to be able to do what I was already doing but in a less efficient way?

Only 1 "advantage" linux has over windows is that software freedom nonsense. Campaigning for FOSS and software free of "harmful" licenses is about as first world problems as you can get.
>>
>>58808492
You need to stick with it because it takes a while to get used to.

If you have a laptop that you want to squeeze better performance out of, use it on there. I use Linux because it runs better and my X220 really slugs around with windows 7 which is absolutely frustrating. Just dual boot, use it and see if you can like it. Maybe try other distros. I always had frustrations with Linux until I moved to arch personally. Not that I didn't use Xubuntu and MATE for a long time because of how stable it was
>>
>>58808492
Mate just chill. I hopped to Linux two weeks ago after using Windows exclusively for 17 years and I love it so much more than any Windows before.
>>

>>58808697

>It works. Linux offers nothing over windows, and since it's software library is full of inferior alternatives, it falls flat.
Wait, your logic is basically "It sucks so it's good if it fails"? that's what are you saying? We're not discussing if it's good or bad, but in what way it hurts you it's sucess or why don't you like the idea of having it as a completely viable (and optional) alternative if more companies support it.

>Why do I need to re learn how to basic tasks to be able to do what I was already doing but in a less efficient way?
You don't, that's why i asked in what way it harms you. You're not obligated to use linux in any way so i don't get why you talk as if you were obligated to use it. Tell me, do you fear that if it becomes popular your current knowledge about other operative systems will worth less? it's something like that?

>Only 1 "advantage" linux has over windows is that software freedom nonsense.
What is your reasoning to say it's a nosense?

>Campaigning for FOSS and software free of "harmful" licenses is about as first world problems as you can get.
Would you mind to explain?

Linux users actually get something if it becomes popular, as it was stated they get better support from companies which currently ignores the platform. What i don't get is in what way having less options and supporting anti-competitive practices like lock-ins benefits the people who is against other platforms and open standards becoming popular.

I agree, the "muh professionalism" argument is usually the only argument used to defend windows. It's basically an attempt to plant the idea that "windows is for professionals" and "linux is for nerds", same as mindlessly saying "mac is for artists and designers". It's some kind of product positioning that works fine of people that doesn't bother to question what those marketing companies says. I don't know about apple but microsoft has a big record on manipulating opinions and buying positive reviews on media. The bad part is that it has consequences in the long run because it becomes very hard to believe anything positive said about the products of that company.

Microsoft apparently. On top of that they already decided what is considered normal and what not when using a computer by having deals with schools to tech how to use their products from a young age. That's why package managers are bad, using the command line is hacking the matrix, ads directly in the OS are just "suggestions", privacy is only for criminals, creating formats with the purpose of locking the users is only acceptable when they do it.
