I think the design is really ugly

remove that fuck huge border
why is there a giant bar with an apple logo on the bottom

the mouse and keyboard look like shit too but I don't write a wall of text

>>

why can't it be packed behind the screen?
M$ and Intel managed that with their all in ones
why can't apple?
I'm pretty sure they did that just to put their logo somewhere on the visible surface

I wonder that as well, what I came up with is: Without the chin it would be just a display. Products need to intuitively communicate what they are in the framework of Apple's design philosophy. The chin says: There is a display, but there is more to it, I'm a computer. I think it works too. And I also don't think it looks ugly. It doesn't hinder functionality in any way, gives the front some personality imo.

Never really liked their computers, but their designs are on point. Just orders of magnitude beyond anything their competitors offer.

At last, this. This will be as good as fuck if I can have a windowed case, have the GPU fan cooler facing me and get a sticker of my waifu sticked to the GPU cooler.
Too bad that nowadays we talk very much about thermal performance that the GPUs are now equipped with many many fans with advanced heatpipe based heatsinks. This old design of graphics card cooler is now nearly invisible in the market.
Unless we buy graphics card with so-called reference designs, but those designs are just as meh as everyone knows.

>>

Didn't mean to include the Fire Pro, point still stands.

I was talking about the visual appeal mate. It's this disgusting gamer aesthetic. Also design kind of implies functionality and in this case it's just some plastic shield with shit printed on it, which is useless, tacky and anti design.

It SORTA got a crack, but nobody ever found an exploit to get it to run anything that wasn't signed.
Smartphones do make them completely pointless, unfortunately. I had one I used as a Skype house-phone for a while, since I had a skype phone-number.
But I'd probably murder my first-born for a smart phone with an identical form-factor. That keyboard was amazingly pleasant. Toss in a modern battery, processor kit, and screen, and it'd be perfect.

What this tells me is that an Apple product has no room for customization.

The Thinkpad on the other hand is not only more accessible, but also allows you to customize and repair the product yourself.

LENOVO WINS AGAIN BBY.
>>
>>58819459
450. Broken usb port on the bottom unfortunately, and the power supply sparks sometimes. Other than that all the other blemishes are practically invisible.
>>
>>58819448
They aren't really that serviceable other than typical things like hard disk/RAM swaps, and nowadays by the time you get to that point the thing's obsolete anyway.
>>58819468
The ThinkPad has no room for customization either, though. You can swap out the hard drive, the RAM, the CPU if you want to do that for some reason, that's it. Not really customization where it actually matters.
>>
>>58819474

Duds fail fast, if it survived the first 2-3 years of its life it's probably good for another 20. I don't encounter drive failures very often, especially on hardware that new.

If you want a replacement, looks like they used 80GB IBM Deskstars. Pull the existing drive and check the model number and date codes on the chips if you want to go for something authentic.

Find solace in the fact that no one person in the world knows completely how a mechanical typewriter works or could build one from scratch, just like how no one person knows completely how a computer works or build one from scratch. They're built using decades and decades of knowledge brought by thousands of people all contributing their individual time and knowledge to a singular cause.
You to could help be a part of this, by contributing to the Linux community, writing computer software or even just beta testing and troubleshooting software that already exists on your computer.

I think he means reddit spacing, as in spacing after every sentence or every other sentence.

how would you know that?
>>
>>58824906
Because people make fun of others who do it, exactly like what you just witnessed.

It's not only that, it's also having a newline between the post you're talking to and between your last greentext and your regular text.

Absolutely incredible.

Unbelievable they must've designed that without a computer.

What were you expecting? It's a minimal design, like most other things posted in these threads.
>>
>>58814929
The model was introduced when Vaio was still Sony, or atleast the body was. They might have done a hardware refresh, but there's still too many issues with the inherent design. One thing I forgot to mention was that the hinge has the screen in position that servery limits it's freedom on a hard surface.

It's hardly a "generic" design for its time either, that would be a shitty PC/AT lookalike or beige minitower.

SO do white PCBs and considering most components are tiny little black squares I would imagine a white PCB would be a hell of a lot easier to spot imperfections on.

Actually I would be that's the more likely reason qe don't see many white PCBs-because any kind of distortion in color caused by excessive heat when mounting components would make for really apparent shit stains.

My best guess is that they improved the visual sensors so that they could use non-standard colors but since the current trend is all black no one is really making white PCBs

Maybe if the trend starts moving towards white then we will see white PCBs again
