actually on a serious note the cable management options in this case are shit and none of the thick cables fit behind the backpanel.

Seems like a weak ass gpu for a system of that price tier. I'm not much better with my 6600k and Radeon 480 though.
>>58801978
There isn't much to say because there's really nothing else to be done here. My only real criticism is a lot of unused space on the right side but it's an extremely nice system.

Nice.
What cpus are those? I know you can overclock the 1600 xeon series via baseclock strap, at least retail versions.. But that also is motherboard dependent.
I had a Evga SR-2 with two x5670 6cores overclocked to 4.5ghz a few years ago, but that is 1.gen "i7" platform tho, so you could overclock anything.

>>58804561
Yeah, got my 4790k stable at 4.5 GHz, a little loud tho
Just went back to my old 1156 while I wait for zen (could be a while before I actually buy). Selling my haswell garbage, feels good getting rid of that housefire bullshit.
Just a mild overclock for now on the x3470, it does 4.2ghz on water with some vcore but didnt care to set it up. Just running air.
Acutally it performs more than enough for every game I've tried so far, even BF1.
>>58800515
Did you switch back to the stock gpu cooler just for the guts? :P
Does look nicer tho.
I'm the one who suggested some settings for 4.4ghz a few days back btw..
Five more days and the case I've been waiting for releases.
>>58813515
nah ill explain real quick: 7950 second fan would spin up unless at 100% (probably dead fan controller) so i zip tied fans to it but it'd bsod with case side panel on probably because of airflow to vrms so i fixed the stock cooler by removing the splitter from the fan power, stripped the wires and twisted them together then cut a 3 pin cable off a fan, stripped those and wired the red/black of the 3 pin to the wires of the fans. works fine and i set up a fan curve correlated to gpu temps in speedfan. awful wiring pic related.
>tfw haven't upgraded to 64-bit yet
Oops
my innerts will soon find adoption in an In Win 805 case :^)

Why? Its not out yet and will possibly be overpriced and don't even features GDDRX.

>>58816386
yeah but i soon gonna switch to ryzen/vega so i don't want to miss out on potential deals which require me a bigger case
it was a pain to install it in the jonsbo is all i can remember
>>58814877
Nice, did you solder the wires atleast, and not just twinned them together? Things can get hot and catch fire if the contact is/gets bad..
>>58816072
Haha, holy shit man.. A 1.gen i3 and 8800gts, and not even 64bit os with 8gb ram!
I hope you're not gaming or doing anything heavy on that computer.
You could upgrade it greatly, for quite cheap tho..
Get a xeon x3440 on ebay, and you will have enough cpu power for years to come.
Get a used modern graphics card, and you have a good gaming rig.
Get a SSD and a x64 os and your shit will be blasing fast compared to what you have now :)

Corsair AF140 Blue LED
Corsair SP120 Blue LED
I thought about going with that new glass case and RGB fans, but its not necessary since my 750D is fine and blue LED is perfect
>I want LED DDR4
>Not sure if my platform does 3200 MHz Quadchannel
>>58816425
He needs at least a modern i5 and a 1050/470 if he wants to run modern games. I would completely switch the hardware.
A used 2500K i5 and R9 290 could be a great deal. My friend got a Tri-X 290 for 100 €.
>>58816460
Getting a whole new system gets alot more expensive, and I whould never get a 2500k over a x3440 when he already has a mobo for it. no payoff what so ever.
But agree on the gfx you said.
>>58816547
This technology is antique, 1st gen i7s are already to weak for modern games if they are not extremly overclocked. I wouldn't do it unless its really cheap.
A 290 can be the best thing if you want maximum GPU performance for minimum budget. It maxes almost every current game in moderate resolutions.
>That guy doesn't even have a 1080p screen
I bought my Phenom shitbox a cheap SSD, thats the first thing I would upgrade. Even such old shit hardware feels completely different when using a SSD.

>>58816460
>>58816547
>>58816609
I have a SSDHDD fusion drive which is faster than the 1TB drive I have in there along with a i7 870 around, just wanted to see how the i3 performed. Any reason to consider the Xeon over an i7 I already have? For the GPU if I want a super cheap upgrade I'll get a r9 270 for $70 CAD, although a 470 does seem like a better deal. Friend also gave me a 1680 x 1050 monitor so it's an upgrade I guess.
>>58816670
Ah nice, no from a i7 870 the xeon will be the same.. The xeons typically overclocks better and runs colder is the only differance, but the i7 870 is still more than enough power.
I think a rx470 is a good deal better in performance than a 270, youll have to read up on that, not sure..
>>58816609
>This technology is antique, 1st gen i7s are already to weak for modern games if they are not extremly overclocked.
Just wrong, they still perform well (have two myself, x3440 and x3470). And the difference from a 1.gen i7 to a 2.gen i5 is minimal, in mothern games you'll probably lose frames by not having HT.
Replacing exhaust fans with quieter ones tonight.
>>58809389
>ordered second card
>never showed up
>bought exhaust for my diesel swap with the refund
SLI bridge is there as a constant reminder that I need another card.

Xeon E5-2667. I know the clock was locked down tight with my old X5672s and X8DAi. I haven't looked into this board as much but it appears to be the same way.
>>58816670
Slightly, but its not the same.
270 is old and I think overpriced. The 470 is around 200 € new here and it will last much longer.
>>58816791
Yes, if you overclock. HT benefits in games like BF1, but raw IPC is also nice to have. On stock clocks the older ones loose.
>>58816425
used some heatshrink then taped it up so it should be alright but yeah soldering it would probably be a good idea
>>58817076
Tell me one game a x3440 whouldn't run smooth on stock please, and I'll test it.
>On stock clocks the older ones loose.
No doubt, but my point was spending money on a i5 2500k and a new mobo isn't worth it vs just getting a $30 x3440. Anyway, he has a i7 870 already which makes it even more useless unless he gets a i7 2600k, a z-chipset motherboard and overclocks it.
>>58797877
ITX edition next....

Node 202
i5 4690k | GTX 1070 | 16GB 2400MHZ
New mobo delivered Friday after it killed a 4790k and my backup 4690k. Exchanged both and sold the i7. This build will look pretty different.
>>58817076
>>58817206
I'll try to OC when I order a 212 EVO but it's a budget motherboard but it'll run cooler than the stock cooler at least.
>270 is old
That's what's holding me back from buying a 270, don't know how honest people are when selling used products but 270 is $70 CAD on kijiji/craigslist while 470 is $225 CAD online. None of the games I play interest me require specs higher than a 270 but then again I'd rather be safe than sorry and in case I get a 1080/1200p monitor later on.
>>58817565
Yeah, you won't get much oc with that motherboard, it has no vrm cooling. Around 3.4ghz on a 212 evo should be easy with little or no vcore increase on the i7 870..
>>58817777
It has turbo boost up to 3.6ghz, I'll try increasing the speed and nothing else to 3.6 just for the sake of it once I get the 212 EVO.
>>58817895
The turbo max speed is just for one or two cores tho, I dont think you will be able to set 3.6ghz by multiplier on all cores. So you probably will have to adjust baseclock, just remember to keep the ram speed at rated or under to keep it stable.
You can probably also safely go up to 1.2v or maybe 1.25v on vcore and vtt (memory controller) if you have to, without the vrms getting too hot.

so i looked up on the website for this pc and i can upgrade the bios for kakylake cpu compatibly
Has anyone done this?
>>58818337
The fuck is wrong with that? Im sure some newer high end boards comes with good onboard sound, but idgaf. I like good sound quality, and I dont like having dacs via usb hanging around.
