what is best USB stick brand? i just want them to be reliable and sturdy
>>58776922
not the piece of shit in your picture, I've had two brand new intenso die without even being used once (plug in pc, try to transfer files, it crashes somewhere at the transfer and completely dies)
>SanDisk
>Samsung
>Kingston
>Crucial
Or some other heard of brands will do fine, as long as it's at least USB 3.0

Avoid Kingston, they get ridiculously hot in my experience.

>samsung
Lol no
Have a 64GB aluminium Lacie USB Extreme edition. Has lasted me for 5 years now (USB 3.0). Best buy of my life, nice build quality and lasts long. That's saying a lot from a person that really abuses his USB flash drive.
I have a 64GB PNY I keep on my keychain with a windows iso, I like it.

WD My Passport Ultra

What do you do with it?
>>58776922
Do it for shits & giggles
I have a samsung cruzer fit but I decided to upgrade it since its only 16 gb. Should I buy the 128 gb cruzer fit (if it exists) or buy some usb 3.0 drive. I leave it plugged to my laptop at all times so I don't want to have a bulge but the performance also concerns me. What does /g/ recommend?

the funny thing is, if you take away the overpowered and overpriced NVMe meme that's bottlenecked anyways, and add in a cheaper SATA/AHCI m.2 like the Crucial MX300... it would almost be worth it and not entirely ridiculous. USB 3.0 has almost enough throughput to reliably maintain SATA3 speeds.

Why does it have to be a usb stick? Why not a portable hdd?
>>58780414
Ah, I mispoke. Apparently the external drive enclosure doesn't support PCI-E or based B key or M based keys. I don't see why they wouldn't make one though... could be a convenient little device for forensics. When something goes wrong you just pop one of those nvme m.2 drives into a front panel USB port..

I bought a 64GB USB 3.0 stick that died about 4 months after getting it. Feels bad man.
>>58776922
What are you talking about I bought one for 30€ a year ago. Its usb 2.0 and perfect for storing porn on it and then watching it on my phone over a otg cable. Never had problems with it
>>58781084
I bought a sandisk extreme 64gb usb 3.0 one for 45€. I instslled debian on it and carry it around all the time and use it for everything. Didnt have any problems yet
>>58781083

>>58776922

// string::erase
#include <iostream>
#include <string>
int main ()
{
std::string str ("doesn't support PCI-E or based B key or M based keys");
std::cout << str << '\n';
> // What I mistakenly said
str.erase (22,24);
std::cout << str << '\n';
> // Removes improper usage of the word "or"
return 0;
}

What about microSD cards? You could get one and then put it inside a microSD to usb adapter. They cost fuck all, and you have the convenience of having both an SD card and a flash drive. You should make sure it's usb 3.0 tho to avoid getting bottlenecked.
Been using a couple of these for a while now, they aight
>>58776922
buy two proper 64gb ones
