I have an i7 2.2ghz 8GB 128GB SSD Intel Iris 540 HP Laptop and I was wondering if I could overclock my processor?
Can you explain what it is because my friend suggested I do it as I like to game? Will it affect my laptop, the temperature or anything in my laptop?
How do I do it?
>Will it affect my laptop?
>Can it do any damage?
Just don't
Overclocking mean more heat
You'll fry your laptop
Just use /sqt/ or Google next time

You'll easily fry your laptop if you over clock it, especially if it doesn't have great cooling/ventilation (assuming it doesn't because it sounds like it's less than 500 USD.) Why the fuck are you gaming on a laptop anyways? Atleast buy a laptop with a graphics card.

I wouldn't. any sort of OC you could ever get in a laptop wouldn't be worth the heat output cause because of it.

Don't listen to these idiots.
I have an i7 in my laptop and overclocked it to run crysis 3 at max settings. It's totally worth it.
Just download an overclocking app and it will make everything much easier. Aim for a 20%-30% increase in speed. I got my 2 GHz CPU up to 3 GHz without problem

Iris is decent. I don't need a graphics card and still my hd530 managed to run overwatch/ss3/gtav on low setting at 1080 just finev(>60fps). Probably the worst thing op can do is use it for prolonged periods because it all the heat and such. But he can use it for light gaming without issue.
