pretty happy with my MOD switch sampler pack. MOD-M being my favorite of the three.

the tactility is not too far off from mx-clears, and it feels almost "snappier" for better or worse

>>
>>58768292
people use qwerty, have staggered layouts and use non split keyboards with regular mice, a flipped spacebar is not an issue compared to these things.
>>
>>58768329
>People use qwerty

Dvorak and other shit is only better for English
>>

But vintage Cherries are not scratchy at all though.

>>58768341
English is the most ergonomic language confirmed
>>
>>58768341
actually every layout i have looked at is better in than qwerty in basically every language. maltron, colemak, dvorak, neo,...
>>58768359
still not as smooth as gaterons.
>>
>>58768329
Flipping your spacerbar implies that they type with their wrists on their desk. Otherwise they would not think it was more comfortable.

until he refunds everyone who has bought a zealio switch until it was supposedly "fixed" i don't see why this is relevant

when people who put out bad products are praised everything will turn into even more of a reddit hugbox culture

samsung didn't say "oops sorry just buy the next one" when their phones were exploding in people's pockets.

>>58768359
"vintage" blacks just means used, and I don't see why that would be relevant to add on it's own

I don't know how much it varies but this keyboard has r2 zealios and there's a minimal difference to my cherry browns in terms of wobbling

and they aren't/weren't (no idea) immune from other issues, like the case being melted easily by soldering irons.

and regardless if these issues are something which is an issue to you personally or not, it's still an inferior and more expensive product to something you can get by modifying cherry clears

>>58768491
fair enough

this isn't what i've heard before, but you're right according to quick google search

>>58768523
standard daily use for under 5 months. it came twisted like that which only made the tearing process quicker i'd guess
>>
>>58768438
I thought the stem wabble on zelios was the same as all the other gateron switches that people love to shill on here. Apparently the mod switches are even worse.
>>
>>58768587
it still melts easily but that's an issue with the transparent housing. there's a milky housing version for sale that doesn't have that issue

also those are insanely wobbly in your webm that must be a r1 thing. mine just feel mildly different from my cherry browns and I don't notice it when typing
>>
>>58768542
well the VB87 is like 140 bucks. If you want something cheaper there is the Anne Pro and rk61 for 80-60 bucks. If you want full size there is the Filco convertible, but that's like $190

This is kinda off topic but it's about Keyboards and technology: Is there a keyboard for phones that is blackberry-like

1: Clips to hold the keyboard to the phone
2: Micro-USB plug to connect the keyboard to the phone (alternatively Bluetooth connection)
3: Slide down the Keyboard to use it

Does that even exist?
(I have an LG G3)
>>
>>58768614
i'm not sure about gaterons in general. but if the wobble issue was indeed fixed then at the very least it would tell you that zealpc is in direct control and in that case the firs 3 GBs he did with wobbly switches are inexcusable

also I have MOD and zealios in front of me right now, and I can tell you they aren't even close.

If you're asking why they're usually more expensive, it's just because there are not that many people buying them.

The cheap keyboard usually recommended here are the Tomoko and the Magicforce and RK61, usually in that order too, from cheap to more expensive. Check the /csg/ OP if you want other options. The one you mentioned is listed on their infographic with the only downside being the gamer aesthetic, so it might be decent.

There are no alps-mount miami caps.

Your options are a couple of Tai-hao sets, one or two SP DCS sets, or DSA Lightcycle coming in one month.
>>
>>58772531
>>58772460
you can also salvage alps sets from other keyboards like an AEK

I think 60% look nice but I feel like I would type slower on them because I'd need to use 2 keys for some combinations.
I have an HHKB and like the layout but I think pic related would be best for me mostly because of some games needing other keys.

Finally finished up my new daily driver board.

Ducky One TKL RGB, swapped the switches to MX Clears with 62g SPRiT Edition springs, lubed with Krytox.
>>
>>58770260
Just get a magicforce. It has a clean design and you can use lots of different key combinations on it due to the color. The stock keys aren't great, but they have at least improved and not used that gamer font. It's still kinda "hacker" looking but it's really easy to replace keycaps.
>>
>>58772043
You did alright. How do you like the browns?

Browns were my first switch, now I use ergo clears for my daily.

Is there a better way to learn "proper" typing besides loading a touch typing test site like keybr or something and just going at it for a while?

touch typing is all about muscle memory, so just keep typing away. Maybe get blank keycaps that way you can force yourself to learn.

Just keep using the various typing sites and forcing yourself to type properly.

Eventually you will develop some muscle memory and get a lot faster.

either build a chink clone from taobao (but those are sold out too) or wait for one to drop on massdrop. Usually the come buy once a year and the last one was in October of last year I think. Though I know think the keyboard is actually a zz96 and so you also have to wait for a group buy. The Duck lightsaver is coming soon in a couple of months so if you want a compact keyboard like that then just monitor this thread and we'll tell you when it goes live

Nah I like it as it is. I just have it set to illuminate each key I press for a second. It's not like I look at my keyboard when I type anyway.
>>
Are there any good sites for custom PBT keycaps sets?
>>
>>58783499
What switches?

Mine had browns and I liked it quite a bit, but I already had a brown board I wanted to improve on thus ergo clears.
>>
>>58783548
Brown as well. I had lolita keyboard before with chink brown keys. It wasn't bad, but keys started acting up after 6 months of use. Hope this one will last longer.
>>
>>58783548
How do the ergo clears compare to browns?
>>
>>58783565
Technically they have 62g springs, so slightly heavier than true ergo with brown springs. Just finished it recently so only be using it a couple days, but have the intent to make it my daily driver.

I really enjoy it. I bottom out less from the increased spring weight, and the tactile bump is more of what I wish browns were to start with. It's about the same noise level as my mx brown Leopold with orings, despite not having o rigs which is nice. Left the space bar switch as a standard clear switch as well because I'm a heavy thumb spacer, and now that's much more enjoyable. The small difference have also improved my typing slightly I think.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it, and would have a tough time going back to stock browns.

Fug.

TOMOKO is out of the question because Amazon doesn't ship to my shithole country.

I guess I could buy a keycap set but this sucks.

They're great for cutting down on noise if you ape out on your board like me.

I see no reason to use them if you have clicky switches or don't bottom keys out though. They're good for games.

You can get bunches on amazon, or go down to the hardware store and pay six pennies.
>>
>>58783886
How does it feel having 3 pair of hands?
>>
>>58783762
Where do you live and how much do you want to spend? You can get a Magicforce on AliExpress, but they have Kailh switches and are a bit more expensive than the Gateron ones from Amazon. Getting separate keycaps is also a good alternative as you said, and there are some cheap ones that are quite decent on AliExpress.
>>
>>58783169
If you need to cut down on noise they are good. I put them on a mx brown board because I was bottoming out loudly to the point people I was talking to online could hear it over the mic.

Personally I don't use them on my new board. I like how it feels more without them, but I also changed switches so that makes a difference. Enough orings to do an entire keyboard is like $5 online so it doesn't hurt to try it out yourself.

Question:

>does any ducky keyboard have button combinations to play/pause songs?
>if not, do I have to create some macros myself? How hard is that, without software?
>>
>>58784457
ducky shine 1 here (we're on shine 5 now). FN key combos. probably all duckys have some sort of media key combos. not exactly usable one handed though since it's usually right handed FN key + Function keys. Use Autohotkey to program media keys. Fairly easy since there's a ton of premade scripts already.
>>
>>58784457
from leddit

>If you board is a 2016 edition Ducky One ( which include Ducky one tkl, ducky one with PBT keycaps and ducky one non-backlit ) then it supports Ducky macro 2.0 which allows you to remap media keys to wherever you wish, just read the manual. If it's an original Ducky One ( full size with backlit ) then AFAIK it only has macro 1.5 without media keys remap feature. In which case you'll need to use a 3rd party program like Autohotkey to rebind buttons ( i.e rebind volume up command to next song, volume down to previous, etc ). Note that changes made by those programs are system while, i.e if you have your mouse set up to change volume using some buttons, those commands will be converted into next/prev song, too.

That's pretty much exactly what you'd pay for a Magicforce plus a set of pretty decent NPKC keycaps. The first one is $75 and the second about $25 all on AliExpress with free shipping. If you're fine with no dedicated arrow keys, then you can get an Anne Pro or RK61. Another alternative is a TADA68 for about $60 on Taobao, which has arrow keys and nice keycaps, but you might need to use an agent or just buy it directly from the website, which is Chinese.
>>
>>58784402
If you want full size get a Ducky Shine 5.

If you want tkl either the RGB Disco or the Ducky One TKL RGB.
>>
>>58784626
If you want RGB backlights, which you can fit under that budget, either a MasterKeys S or a Ducky One.

It can work in a few different ways, you can set your keyboard to be detected as a qwertz one through your OS keyboard settings and locale, you can program it with good keyboards or you can get an actual german layout keyboard, depending on where you are you might need to import though.
>>
>>58784193
So it changes the feeling enough for you to notice? Does it make the difference between bottoming out or not, like you feel a thunk more frequently?

That was my concern and why I was thinking thinner = better. Not bottoming out beats hitting rubber, even with the benefits, but nobody's 100%.

How much did both sets cost? Where they the same or did you get another from someone else?

I just hope that if it drops again they won't overcharge for it. It was nice that you could have gotten it for $100, maybe even less this time around.

I know it dropped once on massdrop for $100, then a second time, but that was a limited set and you had to buy it with the RS96 so it ended up being like $350+. There should be another this year some time.

I've been having some pain in my wrists lately so I'm looking to get an ergonomic keyboard. I'm thinking of the uTRON since a friend has been shilling topres hard, but are there other options I should consider? fwiw I've used brown and green switches before, and I don't really want to get either again.
>>
>>58786423
well for starters don't rest your wrists, instead hover your hand over the keyboard. Get an ergodox of falbatech for cheap
>>
>>58786495
i use a wrist rest but it hasn't seemed to help a ton. Also, it looks like I can only get an ergodox with cherry switches?

looking at a filco ninja with reds for a nice 'clean' tkl keyboard feel, are there any cheaper alternatives i dont know about or should i pull the trigger? haven't looked at kbs in a good year but im in the mood for a new one
>>
>>58786572
keychatter is a common issue on cherry keyboards. Just get a topre instead since they don't have keychatter for 30 million key presses compared to cherry which is 0
>>
>>58786687
well then enjoy your RSI or learn to properly type, or get an arm rest instead

gaterons are much smoother then cherry switches which is why many people prefer them over the scratchiness of cherry. Greetech is just another chink switch that's worse then Kailh
