Yeah, I was thinking about that.
But it's a bit of a bitch to setup, also because it requires CalDav, which Android doesn't have natively.

I'm looking at fruux.com right now. Seems ok, but the Android app hasn't been updated in a while, which has me worried a bit.
Also, it looks like it doesn't show holidays and shit, like Google Calendar does.

OP here.
I can't be bothered to set up Nextcloud and buy Davdroid (or sideload an older version). I wouldn't host the server myself anyway and so I wouldn't gain much in terms of privacy.

I'm pretty happy with Fruux so far. It lacks a few features, but nothing major. There's even a tasks widget on Android.

But if anyone has other recommendations let me know.
