I don't think they will be permanent. Nobody is grafting smart watches to their wrists yet.
They will just look more or less like today's eyeglasses and probably adjust for your prescription too.

Optical processors coupled with nuclear batteries with proper shielding doesn't seem that unlikely.
I mean in the future optical processors might only require 100 milliwatts to function under full load. A small shielded nuclear battery could easily provide that for decades.
