So I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this but might as well.

I am interested in circuit design. Specifically how a circuit board works. How these various capacitors and transistors and chips and such make a usable system. To me thats all a big black box that I have no idea about.

I want to know more about the general process than in depth technical information, because I'm not so much interested in making a board as I am in understanding it.

Try /diy/, they have electronics threads. Probably more what you're looking for.

So what exactly is /g/ for if there's a specialized thread for every technology related thing? Yelling botnet at everything?

you probably have better luck to ask software related questions or plain consumer shit.

This is a densely loaded question my friend. It would be impossible to properly explain how circuits and their various components work in a handful of posts on an image board.

I taught myself the basics of electronics and most passive components in the span of about a month using nothing more than online resources. For me, it helped to put things into the context of audio amplifiers as they employ the use of nearly every major component as well as various techniques and arrangements that give real world examples of what each component is actually doing in a circuit.

Honestly I can't go into any further detail without starting from the absolute beginning so I'll just post one of my favorite resources.

Allaboutcircuits has some very well rounded guides to get you started.

Also note I still have trouble reading complicated diagrams and identifying anything beyond very common, basic designs just from looking at a board. That comes more with hands on experience and involves a great deal of problem solving and logical thinking.

Yeah, I realize this is kind of like saying "Just give me the basics of biochemistry, ok?" but I figured I might as well ask.

I will look there. Thank you.

Electronic engineer here.

Be prepared to spend 5 years studying this stuff and 10 years mastering it.
