Looking for a music player that doesn't require any kind of hacking or software installing

Opinions on Fiio players? Any better alternatives?
>>
>>58723563
>oking for a music player that doesn't require any kind of hacking or software installing
>Opini

how about you use your phone like a normal human being

this aint 1997.
>>
Just get a cheap Android phone with SD card support, load up the SD card with music (preferably .FLAC),and use one of many Android media players to play your music.

MP3 players are dead.
>>
>>58723584
While on topic, is there a streaming service that lets your phone pull music from your PC that doesnt require Java on the PCs end?
>>
>>58723661
Never thought about that, what about the batteries? I'd need to charge them every night and I could avoid that simply using a music player
>>

everything is rechargeable these days
>>
>>58723828
i still use my brown 30gb zune to this day. I like the tactile controls for when I'm driving.
>>
>>58723725
i just upload a ton of my music to google music and use my phone to stream it from there.

i think google lets you upload like 50,000 songs or something

>>58723563
Fiio is good
>>
>>58723998
Any model in particular??
>>
>>58723727
If you keep the phone on airplane mode and take some easy steps to optimize the battery life, you might only have to charge it every few days.
>>
>>58724179
>>58723727
This DESU. Most trucks do this just having one burner phone filled up with audiobooks and podcasts
>>
>>58724179
Still more often than a good music player
>>
>>58723661
I'm honesty stunned by how few people do this, I'm constantly getting people going "are you using data to listen to spotify or something"? and it always blows their mind when I tell them I just have 400 albums on my LG G3's micro SD

I swear people are becoming less technologically literate than they were a decade ago, it's bizzare
>>
>>58724211
That consumes crazy amount of battery, also smartphones are way too big to carry comfortably in a jeans pocket

This thread is about music players, stay on topic
>>
I want a portable music player but I use soundcloud way too much.

I want to buy a decent music player with a DAC inside to listen to my lossless music.

I just carry 1 phone and it has everything I need on there.

Recharge it every second day.

FiiO's non-android players (X1,X3,X5 gen 1,2,3) are great

FiiO's android player (X7) is getting there. (they're working on this really exceptionally well)

the X1 can't be used as a DAC, i believe.
>>
>>58724841
Which one of the non-android ones do you think is best quality/price-wise?
>>
>>58723584
not him, but im not clogging my 64gb non-expandable phone with 50+gb of music.

I have a Fiio X3, been using it for 2 years now and its pretty good, setting it up with the proper firmware and correctly formatted SD Card was a little awkward, and i just found out that my firmware caps it at 5800 songs, but I think they're working on that. If you just want something that plays music at good quality its great for that, speed and ease of use could be a lot better though.
>>
I have been using Cowon S9 for like 7 years now, it works great, has great battery life, can play flac and ogg and shit, just werks.
Drag and drop syncing.
10/10
>>
I wish there was a device that I could load spotify / soundcloud / etc. on it and just store a shitload of the music from those services into the device's memory while at home, then listen offline when I'm outside.

I don't want to go through the trouble of ripping / pirating all the music I have on online services onto my PC then onto a device.
>>
>>58724211
Hey man I prefer physical buttons on my mp3 players what fer skipping tracks without needing to look at the device itself. Plus they tend to have quicker and more streamlined GUI's

Not to mention generally superior battery life as they don't have all the extra circuitry and large touchscreens found on smartphones.
>>
>>58723563
i was going to get a Fiio, but i bought a new 120GB iPod instead. 6th gen, i believe.
i got it from amazon

Are mp4 players still a thing?
I just wanna be able to plug in a microSD full of tv shows and watch it on the bus without having to first sync up the files up to my phone or convert them in to some awful, proprietary gif format.

Not him but my first gen x5 is great, the second gen x5 looks nice but if you something cheaper, get the x1.

how much would you shell out for something like that? would it have to include memory or would you like swappable sd cards or something?

>>

They wait until a bunch of orders come in then send them all overseas in one big crate. That's why you're not paying $20 to ship that little thing from Chinaland.
>>
>>58726765
Your phone doesn't have an SD card slot and VLC?
>>
>>58723727
buy a modern phone
music playback barely even impacts battery life
>>
>>58724524
What's the sound quality like? Is there anything at all wrong with this little thing? I'm super tempted to buy it at $25

Been using a Ruizu X-02, battery life is great. Sound is good for its price.

I have pic related and it's pretty good, it gets job done
>>
>>58726978
the Fiio? I think i paid £90~ for it, can probably get it cheaper now or a better model. I had to buy a 64gb micro SD to use with it and format it to FAT32 (i think?) to get it to work properly. Honestly if youre not 100% concerned about your music sounding as good as it possibly can, i think a decent burner phone purely for music would suffice, less hassle in the long run.

>>58723661

>>flac

you what

>>58723563
colorfly c3, solid af, sounds good, cheap
>>
>>58728495
Also, what I don't like about fiio is often poor build quality and I don't quite like the software either but that's subjective sound wise

What's your poison then, ogg vorbis? Uncompressed .wav? Should we add a 4tb external hard drive hooked up to our music players to keep all those bits flowin' clean from the tap?

Quit being retarded. Buy a broken iPod and spend 10 minutes fixing it. Cost me ~$75 for my 5th gen Classic with a 120GB SSD over a year ago.
>>
>>58723563
I still use my iPod classic that I bought in 2004.

Does it?
Is the Google PC app run without the need of Java? I tried a few different free streaming apps before, and they either require Java or some convoluted setupt
>>
>>58728977
No java required. You just point the software to a directory and it will upload all the music in that directory to the google cloud.

However it will try to start itself every time you boot, so it's best to either uninstall the google software after you upload all your music or remove it from your startup programs using task manager or msconfig
>>
>>58728937
Wait, what? I've been able to play .flac on the LG android flavor's build-in music player since I got it, is it/was it not compatible with some players, or what?

Mfw I bought iPod classics for dirt cheap when most icucks were making the change to the shitty itouch.

Check eBay/Amazon I'm sure there's a few still for sale out there.

AGPtek is releasing a Rockbox-compatible player soon, would give source but can't access the Rockbox forums at the moment.
>>
>>58730637
When I say Rockbox-compatible, I mean a player utilising a SoC that will be capable of running Rockbox provided the community build a port.
>>
>Buy an ipod classic
>replace HDD with a small flash drive larger than the HDD
>???
>profit!
>>
>>58730693
The AGPtek dudes have been asking for advice on rockbox for their advice for a few years now, glad to see them work things out.
