Hey /g/!

What do you recommend for erasing one's digital footprint? I know it's impossible to be completely anonymous on the internet, but it would make me more comfortable if they know less about me.

I heard that TOR is not a viable option anymore, since goverment agencies are sniffing there. What should I use instead? Is SSH tunneling a good idea on a lesser known server, or is it dangerous because they can monitor my traffic?

What services / programs should I use that are secure and protect my anonymity to a certain extent?

Currently I'm using these:
> duckduckgo
> protonmail
> vivaldi browser
> aes256 encryption on every personal file I upload to online storage.

Are these okay?

>move to cuba or some shit

you fell for the nsa meme, gg

> duckduckgo
use startpage you cuck

> vivaldi browser
kek, it's a troll post, abandon thread

>trusting a fucking duck
>downtimemail
>votnet
>uploading personal data to stangers' computers

You should teach yourself cybersecurity, or just start with basic networking and web development. You will quickly realize that anonymity is a meme.

>it would make me more comfortable
That is all you'll ever achieve. But they will know more about you: things they already know + the fact that you wanna hide them :^)
>>
>>58723589
>>downtimemail
I'm using ProtonMail as my main email address for 7 months and have never experienced downtime.

This being said,
>>58723499
>> duckduckgo
>> vivaldi browser

Use YaCY and TOR. Period.

You may use Qubes OS, OpenBSD, or TAILS as well.

And there are parallel Internets where you digital footprint is much more lighter, if not nonexistant (Freenet).
>>
>>58723578
I'm not trolling, I just don't know much about cybersec.

What's the problem with the duck? I didn't find anything suspicious.
>>
>>58723639
Thanks for the recommendations!

I was thinking about Kali, because I want to know more about cybersecurity and try out some methods and test my home network.
>>
>>58723766
Kali is for offensive security.

There is Parrot as well, which seems to feature post-breach analysis tools.

Do you have a special threat model or do you just ask for digital sanity practices?

As said by a Twitter account, @SwiftOnSecurity, “The ONLY privacy that exists, that will ever exist for today's young people, are carefully isolated online identities discarded at adulthood”.

If I may ask, are you doing computer-related studies which could help you to understand cybersecurity? Are you familiar with cli?
>>
>>58723766
Go on hak5, they've a ton of tutorials
>>
If you didn't want to lose your privacy, don't give away your name/address/pictures of yourself to non-government agencies.

If you've already done it, then you have no reasonable expectation that you'll have privacy.
>>
>>58723868
Currently I'm studying math at uni but I have been learning programming for several years, and I have moderate knowledge on how computers and operating systems work.

Lately I started to develop interest towards cybersecurity, I implemented some encryption methods. I have chosen Kali, because as I can see, it has various, fascinating tools for hacking. I'm curious about both, offence and defence. I reckon that the best way to defend myself is to know how these attacks are performed. I will look up Parrot, too, thank you!

You're welcome bud
>>
>>58723881
Thanks, I'm browsing it now, and it seems really useful.

I have just one more question. If online services like Google and Facebook have my personal data, and I've used their services for years, do they have a so unique identifiers about me and my browsing habits, that it's impossible to hide from them? Even if I use proxy, new mail addresses, and so on?
>>
>>58724243
Depends on how much data they have (if your phone number is attached, how much info on your 'timeline' they have) but i'd say it's a bit far fetched to say they could match that info with a random proxy and somehow know it's you.

What does freak me out is the NSA boxes and stuff that snowden leaked. They could do some fucked up shit with that, they caught a hacker on the Isle of Skye (island off Scotland). The claim was a guy ratted him out but this was before the snowden stuff. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if I'm just being a bit paranoid though.

Tor is compromised. Freenet is for fags and i2p is probably your best bet. Have no social media. Dont use google. Use a vpn. Block scripts. Https only. Decentral eyes etc etc. Delete all your old accounts. That is your best bet.
>>
Server hopping in general does not work anymore since *they* have netflow coverage of pretty much the entire internets and can see all in and out packets between hops. Good luck finding a blackhole *they* can't see into since data is traded by volume like old leet bbses with up/down ratios. I kid you not. The more you give the more you get.

Kali literally, literally is a botnet.

You have to sign to maltego for fucks sake. And no, not needing to give real info is no excuse, is already a beacon sending data.

Delete accounts and stop going on the Internet.

You can't. The only you can do is change your habits and throw all your shit away and get new shit. Also, use only old fashioned mail for really important communications.
>>
>>58723499
The shit you listed is all for plebs who don't understand how filesystems work. Basically just make sure you empty your recyble bin and make sure you clear your history and cache (this includes falsh!) and you'll be fine. Windows automatically overwrites all your used bits with random data so you're guaranteed that those cyber peekers wont' see anything.
