Windows itself is a flaw though

What the fuck I actually can't make that file!
>>58716325
The reason for that is because COM1 was a reserved name (for the first serial port) in DOS. Yeah, all the way back to 1.0 back in 1981. So instead of ever changing that or fixing it properly, they've just carried the behavior forward, since some batch file somewhere probably relies on it and other people seldom notice.
>>58716125
What a shitty OS. Instead of making retarded looking file explorer they could have fixed this
Microsoft still installs heals of ahit in the root of the C drive.
No idea why ehen they can just put it in a folder.
>>58716125
Even if it works as expected, it's still shit.
>benchmarks
"On Geekbench 4, which measures overall performance, the Dell scored 6,498 and the latest 12-inch MacBook's 5,258"
>real use
"It took the Dell 4 minutes and 14 seconds to match 20,000 names and addresses in OpenOffice"
"nowhere near as quick as the MacBook's 3:11"

Should prevent confusion over whose computer it really is. Microsoft is cucking their users quite openly, gotta give them credit for that.

If you use 7zip you can name any file/folder anything.
Even CON
>>58716506
But what does your post have to do with Windows?
>>58716125
Boy I didn't realize Windows looks this shit these days
>>58718021
It shows that faster hardware performs noticeable slower with Windows in real tasks. It's a shitty, bloated mess built on legacy corpses of even more shitty and bloated mess.
>>58717950
Holy shit, this fucker is right.
So it's basically just baked into Explorer?
>>58718043
Or does it show that synthetic benchmarks don't mean jack shit when you boil them down to a single number?
Something we all should already know.
i personally hate when you move a folder to another place, and it always tells you that there is a system file (thumbs.db) that is opened by another process, so it can't finish the task
>>58718053
But it's not purely synthetic benchmarks, the CPU (Core M) in that Dell is just a faster model with a better cooling, it has no excuses to perform worse. Even MUCH better CPUs do worse. The HP and Lenovo got KB Core i7 15W CPUs, Dell and Acer got a newer, faster version of the Core M tin the Macbook.
>It took the Dell 4 minutes and 14 seconds to match 20,000 names and addresses in OpenOffice, which is faster than the Acer's 4:36 but nowhere near as quick as the MacBook's 3:11, the HP's 3:34 or the Lenovo's 3:33.
A Skylake core m with MacOS shits on KB Core i7 with Windows. How is it not the fault of the OS?
>>58718149
But what else in involved in that Open Office test?
Is it hitting the storage hard? Is memory holding it back? Where are the numbers coming from that make the difference between those two Geekbench results? Should they install Windows 10 on the Macbook and rerun the test to try and validate the results?
>>58718043
It shows two different computers performing differently. For a fair comparison you'd have to put Windows on the same Macbook.
>>58718188
>Where are the numbers coming from that make the difference between those two Geekbench results?
They are given due faster hardware, and Windows generally performs a bit better in synthetic benchmarks. Not 100% sure why.
>Is it hitting the storage hard?
Even if it does, Yoga and Specre got a 25%+ faster PCI SSD. All of them got 8GB ram and it's generally similar specs.
>Should they install Windows 10 on the Macbook and rerun the test to try and validate the results?
It'd be ideal to see the exact difference it causes but it wouldn't do much about the fact that much faster laptops on paper under-perform compared to a le facebook machine. If it'd was just from one company, one could blame it on shit firmware/drivers but all of them?
>>58716125
black text on black theme border still happening? or did you just install that shitty theme on purpose
>>58718252
It could also be due to OpenOffice differences on Win/Mac... bottom line it's a bad comparison.
>>58716125
>Someone actually saved my screenshot from months back
I knew something looked familiar, OP.

>>58716674
>>58718047
Yes. this is because /dev/null = NUL and so on. Even windows needs special devices below GLOBALROOT
>>58718149
You'd have to perform that test on identical hardware to blame it on the software.
