I absolutely can't stand glossy displays (the 4k option is glossy/touch) & I don't want 4k on a 15" display until the state of scaling is a lot better.

I love the laptop, few teething issues at first when I was installing W10 until I found the right combo of nvme driver & BIOS, but since then it's been super solid.

With that said, does anyone know what REALLY thin pieces of wood are called? If I do this, I want to put rose wood on top of all the visible parts of the desk, with a small plexiglass or glass insert for drinks. for the shelf as a desk, I would probably clamp or screw a insert to give me room for a chair to go under and place a keyboard on that. granted, my desk currently doesn't let me put legs under it because of the keyboard tray being low, and the computer being right in the way even if I did remove the tray.

particleboard seems to be easier to work with with hand tools. that and routering out a section of it will likely give a better result.

only reason I would use oak is if it was significantly cheaper, and as I don't even know what term to search for I can't make a judgement call. I MUCH prefer the color and look of rose wood to oak though.

as for wood flooring, that an option if I could find it cheap, what i see it will cost upwards 500$ and even a vinyl sticker at 70~ dollars made me consider just putting some clear urethane mix on top and sanding it flat.

I know there is wood that there is a way to get wood that is thin as fuck for layering over things and glueing it to keep its shape, I was looking for wood int hat for, as really I only need it to be thick enough to not be see through. I figured that would be the cheapest I could get, but can't for the fucking life of me think of what its called.

I have that stick as well as you can see, and it really depends. It's a wonderful, cheap stick, but there's one big flaw - it is far too small to comfortably play aside from on a desk. If you will only be using it placed on a desk it rocks, but if you want something that will be comfy in your lap or otherwise you just need a bigger stick, it's just too damn small.

Sketchup. I was really meticulous about getting it exactly right, so I pretty much modeled every stuff I had (that had a geometry I can deal with), or could find in the sketchup warehouse online, and I even put stuff in there I only plan to buy later (but I removed those from that picture).

the part on the bottom that is below the desk is venting for a computer, put it and have inside, have all the air pulled through the back to the air return by a bit but low speed fan for little noise.

once I started, i realized I could build shelf slace too, so instead of just a flat desk i have another level above it now. could probably put in some drop shelving too.

mpc is pretty slow going but a really nice way to work, screens tend to ruin music in my opinion, some people can work like that but I always do drum tracks with the mpc, work from there in the DAW.

Yep. It works well. Hori Fighting Stick Mini 4.

It can be hard to do fast streams of notes. On a DS4 you can alternate with the d-pad (eg. left and square) and with the giant arcade buttons you can alternate between two hands. I've seen people alternate with two fingers on a fight stick but I haven't been able to pull it off. I've only been using a fight stick since the US FT release and I expect it'll be fine with more practice.

It's missing L3, R3, and the trackpad. Unlike F and F 2nd on the PS3, you can't use two controllers at the same time, so you have to take a few seconds to connect a DS4 controller whenever you need those buttons. It's not a big deal unless you use practice mode.

So probably any other fight stick would be a little better, but this one is good enough for most uses. If you don't use practice mode and you do use a desk, it's great. If I were to upgrade to something more than $40, I'd build a controller with 100mm buttons.

Is there a particular reason why timestamping isn't encouraged in /bst/? having /g/ on your monitor is enough for me I guess, but I always thought what made the whole battlestation thing special, was that I could see the setups of my peers, not just random pics people found on the internet that are cool.

Pretty much every setup here, apart from a couple of obvious bait ones that get posted, are from anons themselves posting their places. Just by looking at the filename most times it's pretty obvious, that and a lot of people are always taking new pictures, which you could tell if you came here often.
