whats the best place to set up a blog/profile kinda website for yourself? need to do something to stand out to employers. is Wordpress good

WordPress is the most widely used CMS.

Personally I would rather use something like Jekyll or Hugo for a blog.

Try SEO. I don't use WordPress, but it should be easy to find what plugins are popular.

yes yes wordpress is the best keep using it. It does everything for you already. Just keep at it and good things will come. Also try Wix. Blogging can be a great career just keep going.
