I'm under the impression that it's dependant on what kinds of programming you wish to do. AI and machine learning is a lot different than web development.

elaborate plis

Algebra + some basic calc will get you like 80% of the way there. For the rest you'll need linear, diffie q, multivar and discrete. Mostly discrete
>>
Unless you make games or scientific applications all you need is algebra.

If you want to make games and scientific applications then you need calculus, linear algebra, discrete math and so on and so forth.
>>
>>58679187
and if you do machine learning, deep learning AI stuff and so on then you need statistics.

none

You need to know more about logic and spacial awareness.
>>
>>58679017
You might want to focus on mastering algorithms and data structures.

>How much math do I need for programming

If you aren't a math wizard you can still be a programmer. Creative problem solving is a big part of it - it's totally possible to make a decent salary with nothing more than Algebra.

Like I said you just have to be a creative problem solver
>>
if you want to actually program cool shit like 3d game engines you should knot calculus, if you want to just be a code monkey babby or web devver then 6th grade math is all you need to know
>>
>>58679017
if you are planning on doing anything graphics related (OpenGL, vulkan) quite a bit. Matrices vectors shit like that

/g/ is a bunch of dweebs wishing they could make the next cawadoodee shooter while this 11/10 qt is programming at her headless server /w teletype emulation on an old HP deskjet that she modded the logic board on for the comfy retro aesthetic and because she did the math and its a massive net saving in energy and raw material to work like this... unless youre a dumb pajeet that needs to reread his own code 10000 times that is.

if you want to go into game engine development, physics, AI or ML, audio and video codec development and such then you need a lot of solid advanced maths knowledge.

if you just want to build a new flappy bird or web app then basic maths with some logic is fine.
