Are you running LineageOS on your smartphone, /g/? I just installed it on my Nexus 4. Word of advice, don't bother with the "experimental" migration build. Go directly with the nightly. Don't forget to get from extras the root access thingy, and (optionally) gapps pico.

https://download.lineageos.org/mako
https://download.lineageos.org/extras

Works really nice (: I updated from CM13, btw. It kept all my applications, settings, files, etc.. From what I can tell it's only missing the option to set the anymations to 0.7. It has the stock defaults 1; 0.5; 0; 2; etc.

Switched from CyanogenMod (13, Stable) to LineageOS (14.1, Nightly) yesterday. Works fine so far.

For people like me which don't have the Google stuff installed not much has changed in the GUI has there?
>>
>>58666850
It has builds for the S2, S3, and S5, but not the S4? What the fuck?
>>
>>58667082
It's a bigger difference between 7 and 6 than it wa between 6 and 5. 6 was more like a Lollipop v2, how it should have been at launch. But yeah, it's not that different, like 5 was to 4.4.

As far as I know USA is the only country where installing a ROM voids warranty.
>>
>>58667190
They can't find out that you flashed something else as long as you bring it to them with the stock firmware, in case of an issue.
>>
>>58667288
It's up to whoever offers the warranty. Here in Ukraine warranty is also voided if you flash a non official firmware. But this >>58667300 still applies

>>
In most of Europe (of course) they won't help you anymore with software issues, but you don't lose warranty on the hardware.
>>
>>58666908
So is camera functionality on CM14/Lineage with kenzo as buggy as the threads suggest?
>>
Supposedly it doesn't work well on the m7, ie. data and wifi cutting out randomly.
If only my nexus 4 didn't have a cracked screen.
>>
>>58667320
Yeah the same applies here for every carrier. But one anon said a few months back that his warranty would be void even if he flashed the stock back, and said he's 'murrican. It may be because of tech illiterates being in charge of explaining warranties to customers like >>58667336 said, so the anon could have been wrong and could still re-flash stock. But I just got the idea that flashing generally voids warranty irreversibly there.

>>

So I'm waiting for an Xposed version for nougat with my CM13 S5 and I'll probably flash it once that's out of the way. How's it?
>>
>>58667602
I've only been using it for a couple of hours. No issues thus far, though.
>>
>>58666850
Anyone have a concise story about what happened? I feel alot of blows were withheld in the wiki article and blogs. Pity about the name, CM had such a nice role to it.

So smooth transition, I can compile and install now?
>>
>>58667821
You already could install and compile 20 days ago.
Journalists like to sensationalize everything, clickbait titles are the norm.
>>
>>58667821
>concise story about what happened?
So there was CyanogenMod, the community ROM, and Cyanogen Inc, which was founded to try and monetize it by selling it to device makers, and shit like that. This didn't go so well. They got some dumb money from VCs, burned through it, and then ran out. This wouldn't be a problem except they ran the infrastructure for all the builds and shit, and owned the Cyanogen trademark. And the businessfolk didn't really give a damn about the open-source project, so they just shut everything down on like a week's notice. So essentially LineageOS got the code and shit and had to rebuild everything else from square one. The disruption is irritating but it's kinda impressive that they got so much done to be back up and running as a project inside of a month.

If you can't fix your hardware and software problems yourself, you shouldn't be here. I've put my phone through the pool and I was able to recover the main board and all of my data on my own. I replaced the screen, battery, camera and vibration motor and it's still working. I've also hard bricked this thing by unplugging it during a bootloader flash, and I reprogrammed the eMMC directly. Everything is fixable unless you absolutely fuck the motherboard which is usually your fault and in that case not covered under warranty anyways.

You can also relock the bootloader on Nexus phones through a fastboot command.

>>
>>58667320
It's not up to whoever offers the warranty but about the legislation of your cuntry. In EU you can flash anything and still get RMA. Don't let Samsung swindle you into not fixing it, most OEM's don't give a fuck about the consumer. Same thing with Apple, normally they only give 1 year of warranty but because of the EU legislation they have to give warranty for 2 years.

>>
>>58676381
Flashing the stock back is allowed in EU and not even necessary in some countries. Your warranty won't be void if you flash the stock back. Because warranty is only meant for fixing hardware issues and has nothing to do with software, anything software related a normie can fix themselves and doesn't even need a warranty.

>>

>>
>>58676622

>>
>>58676559
It's dependent on the carrier/manufacturer. Most carriers, if not all of them, in America will refuse to service a device regardless of whether it's hardware or software related if you did anything with flashing unofficial software.

If you have some issues/bugs with it, then it's just as i said, either junkphone or you're making some mistakes.

Naw, CM is just literally trash.
Play store is full of people bitching about apps not working.

The roms are also just always buggy.

Literally the only reason to use it is pic related.
>>
Does LineageOS come with Calendar, Contacts, Calculator, etc?
The reason I ask is I installed it, but OpenGapps causes it to freeze, so I went with someone elses Gapps package, but then it had these shitty outdated versions of all of the apps and downloading the up to date versions from play were completely separate apps, so now there's two of everything.

You don't need root to install it.

Wrong.
In whole central Europe your warranty gets voided after altering the device in any way either physically (except shattered screens, fucked LCD panels etc.) and software wise

Wow, what a suprise. You are obviously one of them.

Nice try, but i'm not the larping namefag who's too stupid to use a phone.

>>
FUCK.

I tried installing it straight over, and it Gabe an error, saying it was incompatible with the the data on the phone.
So I wiped data, system, and cache, and it installed fine, but didn't have any of my stuff.
I can't just upgrade?

But then I just restored from backup and it's all fucked and doesn't recognize my Sim anymore and doesn't have most of my customization.
Coming from cm14 nightly
>>
>>58679590
But you already do by using Android.

I did the upgrade from CM13 stable and it went fine. What phone?

I said in the OP, nighly, don't bother with the experimental build. The experimental one is supposed to help with the migration from CM to LOS, but it failed to me. Nightly went just fine, all is in place.

>>

I used the migration, and now have nightly installed with my stuff, but it still doesn't see my Sim, and phone app is crashing.
>>
>>58680089
Well then I guess it's a matter of how well it works on your device. Nexuses usually have better support, so..
>>
Yeah, I'm running it on my OnePlus 2. Was a bit annoyed that despite running a Christmas build of CM14.1 previously, I still had to wipe to get Lineage. Went through with it so I can continue to stay up to date, but man that was a bother. I was telling myself it was a good chance to try using my phone without gapps finally, but since I was still on the same Android version, my previously installed gapps still appeared. That, or Lineage packages gapps with itself, which I highly doubt.
>>
>>58680112
Sim did work with a fresh install though, is it a good idea to try flashing new baseband firmware?
>>
>>58680161
I don't know, I have never done that..
>>

Its too bad they gutted support and replaced it with broken shit or you could just log into Google and have everything populated.
>>
>>58680432

>>

You can change your wallpaper and customize apex/nova launcher. What else are you hoping to theme? System menus and such?
>>
>>58680506
that's why you download openGapps and flash it
>>
>>58680624
>>58680598
You shouldn't use pajeet versions of gapps. It isn't secure and you won't get updates.
>>
>>58680689
Not to mention shit will just randomly break because you are using hacky forks.
>>
>>58680610
Themes can change SystemUI looks, fonts, animations, [hone's startup animation, and other applications appearance as well. It's quite neat if you're into that sort of things.

>>58680689
>>58680702
It's open source on GitHub.

>>58680689
>It isn't secure
It's just a script that installs Google's applications directly downloaded from playstore. You can even unpack it with 7zip.
>>
>>58680333
Fresh install and its all working.
All is not well though... Gotta dig out my old phone to manually copy my customization and apps. Fuck.

Is there any way to change my battery capacity in software though? I have an extended battery, and it doesn't charge right, I'm guessing it's a written in battery capacity because it will charge up like 30% then quickly drop 25% off after I unblug it

This.

Case in point: Xiaomi Mi5. 14.1 has less bugs than the ROM straight from Xiaomi.

The Mi5 with LOS may be the best phone I've used since the Nexus 5, and that is high praise indeed.

The only bugs present at the moment have to do with F2FS, which is an optional, experimental file system.

It really seems to me that you've either been running early nightlies or using an unpopular phone with unofficial builds.
>>
>>58681160
Seems to me that you are delusional and just ignore how shit it is.

Doesn't surprise me that you would buy Xiami chink shit either.
>>
>>58681186

I bought the Mi5 because it was the best mid range handset available at the time, and indeed right now. It is at the same performance and price point that the N5 was when it was released.

Don't get me wrong, I tried to give MIUI a chance, but it's permissions management system amongst other things were retarded. I also gave AOSP a go, and find myself wanting for the few features that CM/LOS offer over AOSP. This goes for both the N5 and the Mi5.

I did have a Zenfone 2 between these phones but it was a buggy mess. Doesn't help that it was x86 either. So as I said, your mileage may vary.

Although it is clear to me now that you have not experienced anything that I'm posting about and you're just baiting so I'll stop wasting rational thought on you.
>>
>>58680862
Maybe it needs a few charging cylces from empty to 100% to properly calibrate

The ROM isn't pre-rooted anymore. Instead of you flash root separately from here

It's had a year on my last rom. It will go from 100 to 0 properly, just won't charge up right. It takes like a week to charge it back up

You are delusional and just ignore how good it is.
You simply think it's shit because it has no shiny Samsung or Apple sticker on it and you're too retarded to use a phone, faggot.

At least my chink shit isn't a ticking time bomb that is banned on airplanes.

I'm gonna wait a bit, since apparently the Axon 7 is still going to get an official build. Anyone on the Axon 7 using the current build?
>>
>>58682968
All devices that already had 13 or 14.1 available get prioritised afaik. They're like 50 devices.
