seriously, how is windows 10 even real
don't try to defend the >muh work-free hours
no serious OS should enforce any sort of update on its users
not only does pic related happen in the superior macOS, but even if you try to hit restart and there is an application with ongoing work (such as rendering, remember the "windows made me a racist video?), the computer will stop restarting

Not sure what the problem with Windows updates are.
You just have to check of the defer updates option, and then set your wifi connection to metered and it will never bother you with updates ever again.
If you're too incompetent to figure this out, then you deserve the headache that comes with dealing with automatic updates.
>>
>work such as rendering
Fuck off, Rainer.
>>
>>58663290
>If you're too incompetent to figure this out

People that retarded NEED to have updates forced on them or they ignore it forever until they get infected and then cry about how Windows "isn't secure".
>>
>>58663369
When I stop updates I am in essence stopping time, so I should be entirely secure. I even have a script that resets my time back to August 1, 2008 so I feel more secure on my XP machine.

OSX has been left insecure in the past due to people refusing to reboot.
I honestly don't know why the kernel can't be restarted asynchronously though, like some chroot but for the kernel not filesystem/userspace.

>>58663290
Because it doesn't save your workspace before rebooting.
Waking up/coming back to a PC sans all your work and windows is pretty fucking annoying. Even OSX gets this right by saving the state of all running applications and restoring them in-place on reboot.

Spoiler, brainiac. It'll still Download the updates at lower intervals. and when it happens, albeit less frequently, you have no fucking control over when it reboots.

Then again, if you don't see this as a problem, keep using Windows. But stop acting like this isn't a legitimate concern.

that does not happen

I use Win10 since insider preview and this _____never______ happened

you click "WINDOWS UPDATE" and you click "I DECIDE WHEN TO INSTALL" from the fucking menu
that's all there is

Because windows update doesn't even pop up if I don't start it (you can deactivate the service).

Enjoy your lack of customization faggot. Windows is too hard to use for people like you.

pretty much
the RAM usage could be lower I guess
the programs I'm running use about 1gb in this screenshot
the rest is from who the fuck knows and windows
>>
>>58664331
Currently on Windows 7 with 4 GB of RAM. All I have up at the moment is Thunderbird, Waterfox, and Malwarebytes. 1.76 GB are being used and all those programs combined use less than half that amount. Guess the lesson is that RAM usage is high on any Windows version.
>>
>>58664403
I heard that Windows Server 2016 is very efficient in that aspect
got a free copy and plan on trying that in the near future
>>
>>58664278
>>58664403

Windows memory management has been getting worse.
On Windows 7 I can have pale moon, PowerPoint, and hexchat open and the ram usage will be around 1.2gb.
Windows 10 idles around 2gb.

As for the CPU usage, it's usually fine except for when svchost decides to go insane and use up like 80% of the CPU. You can just open task manager and force close it though.
>>
>>58664571
I never have svchost do that to me in Windows 7, is this a Windows 10 thing?
>>
>>58664601
It's happened to me in 8.1 and 10.
I don't think it's happened in win7 to me either.

Forced updates? What are you on about, Willis? They've always asked if I want to do the update and it asks if I want to do it now or in ten minutes or tomorrow or 'later' [ad infinitum].

You need to stop being so autistic about free memory and start actually using your memory. Windows 10 was using well over 1 GB on my shitty old tower with 2 GB, (on which Windows 10 is still very usable even with an old single core Athlon by the way), but then I made a 1.2 GB ram disk to record some audio on and Windows went down to half a GB.

>All hierarchy nodes and folder names (IMG, roles, and so on)

>what is group policy editor

>>
>>58664727
Nah, any unsaved document can prevent the OS from updating. Also, applications that support autosave will simply save their data and quit.
>>
Windows doesn't force anyone to restart immediately or restart during important work. The restarting only happens when you have purposefully ignored multiple warning messages for days. Just turn your computer off every night and you will never see any nagging ever. If you do something with the computer that makes it impossible to turn off every night, you probably shouldn't be using a consumer OS anyway.
>>
>>58675877
>Windows doesn't force anyone to restart immediately or restart during important work.

>The restarting only happens when you have purposefully ignored multiple warning messages

Both can't be true.
>>
>>58675877
>shilling this hard

I hope they're paying you well pajeet
>>
>>58676472
Yes they can. Because when you have a lot of options for when to restart, you didn't get forced to update at the last minute. You chose to update it at the last minute.

If you mean being forced to update at all, rather than being forced to update at a specific time: Yes, Windows forced you to update. And no, that is absolutely not a problem in any way.
>>
>>58663210
I don't understand your argument. I use windows 10 and im pretty sure it schedules a time to install the updates or lets you do it whenever you want.

Why can't you take literally 5 minutes out of your day to restart your computer? I don't understand.

It's not even like you have to do it every day either. Windows 10 only gets updates about maybe once per week on average.
>>
>>58676516
So if I'm working, and Windows Update pops up and I tell it nah do it later it won't eventually popup and start a count down. Then when that count down ends it won't restart and close/lose anything I had open?
>>
>>58676712
No, it won't force restart if you tell it later. You can keep working for the rest of the day, then when you turn off the computer at night it will install the updates.
>>
I'm so fucking glad I moved from W10 Enterprise to Xubuntu. So much better in every way.
>>
>>58676740

>>
>>58676773
Windows can fucking do whatever the fuck it likes, it's a piece of retarded fucking shit made by a bunch of retards that couldn't code for shit
>>
>>58676833
Not but Windows doesn't do this, when restarting starts if you have an unsaved document open it will be closed and lost by default, correct?
>>
>>58676867
My Windows 10 Enterprise, when I used it, never closed if there was any unsaved document open.
