But have you ever tried to get it to work with GTK apps on a KDE based system?
I used to be a long time KDE user, but I never, ever (except on suse) had the KDE picker on firefox (or inkscape, or gimp, or libreoffice).
Those fuckers always default to the GTK abomination.
And now I am on gnome and I have to use this shit everywhere.
Its horrible.
How gnome (or GTK based stuff) managed to become the defacto default "Linux" is beyond me. Its utter shit.
And it looks the part.

On Gentoo, you kind a just emerge kdialog with the smallest set of USE-flags useful to you.

On binary distros, you can usually kinda forget getting it without pulling a bigger part of KDE.

Then again, it's what the OSX and Windows users in this thread have. Every. Time. All of it. With *far* more bloated binaries - your KDE update is quite small in comparison.

Ultimately it won't really hurt to have this little data lie around anyhow.

Oh sure, the multi-GPU acceleration and stuff wasn't quite as easy as it is now or like it's on Wayland, but that's ultimately besides the point. Thing is, Xorg has scaled to whatever resolution for a long ass time now, and for the most part, so has KDE.

It could be trivial to select a file picker.
If we set a file picker preference it gets user or the toolkit (GTK,QT) will use the native file picker.
