Should I put my computer to sleep or hibernation?
Put yourself to sleep
Install your OS on an SSD and shut it down

You keep it on forever.
I do a restart every week.

Is the leaving your computer running 24/7 meme finally dead? Shit man, back in the 90's that was the cool thing to do. You didn't turn your shit off. You let it run 24/7 so you could brag about your 3 month uptime in the IRC chats you hung out in.

If you want to save power put it in hibernate.
>let computer sleep
>wake computer up
>CAN'T WAKE UP
>never sleep or hibernate again
>24/7 uptime because lazy

This.
I've had enough bad experiences like this with sleep mode, that I disable it on every computer I own.

Why not both?

If you use full disk encryption and want to be extra safe, use hibernation. Otherwise it's generally considered more convenient to use sleep. If it's a laptop with a nearly dead battery, use hibernation.

How so?
