Sources: Samsung is hoarding Qualcomm's supply of Snapdragon 835 for Galaxy S8, forcing rivals like LG and HTC to use older Snapdragon 821 processor

http://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/2017/01/23/the-lg-g6-wont-have-snapdragon-835-because-the-galaxy-s8-has-first-dips/

Why is this allowed?
>>
The 821 is still a damn good chip. That's not so bad. This should teach everyone to not support Samsung... but fags and normies will still buy them.

Goes to show that their Exynos shit isn't good. Kek.
>>
>>58639944

>Have money to buy the whole supply
>STOP HAVING MONEY YOU BIG MEANY

ok?
>>
My old LG works perfectly well for what i use it, communication, occasional document reading, music listening, using the offline city map, occasionally taking pictures of papers and such shit, and checking e-mail.

All this shit thankfully doesn't impact me in any way.
>>
Qualcomm must be flyin' high right now
>>
>>58639944
It's not Samsung's fault that people buy the fuck out of their Galaxy phones. Galaxy phones outsell iPhones 3:1.
>>
>>58640102
This.
>>
>>58640102
Buying the whole supply with the intention of making your competitors unable to purchase is market manipulation.

Or maybe they're anticipating high demand of their phones so they're willing to pay more to have more of the chips.
If they left some for LG, HTC, etc, then customers would be angry that they would have to wait longer for it to be in stock. So buying the whole supply is actually a good thing for the consumer and it saves them the wait time or even buying a phone from a brand they didn't want in the first place.

>Why is this allowed?
What, paying for things? If you go to your gas station and buy all the cigarettes they have, it's not your fault that the guy after you won't be able to buy some for himself. If LG or HTC would pay more, Qualcomm would be more inclined to sell them.

>>58640121
Nigga what? Galaxy sale figures aren't even in the same league, Samsung market share is based on cheap shit. Even iPhone 7 outsold it in 2016 despite being released almost half a year later.
>>
It's perfectly legal but it does remind me about my Dad telling me about Windhoek Lager from Namibia while we were living in South Africa.

He recalled a time where Windhoek bought every bottle from major manufacturers so no other breweries could sustain the output. A lot of breweries went out of business and Windhoek stole marketshare in the span of a few months as Windhoek was the only available African Lager for cheap.

are you 12? What's the problem?

Qualcomm has been outclassed in both, CPU and GPU performance ever since Scorpion.
Krait was fine at the beginning while Cortex A15 was around, but fell behind drastically in power consumption and performance during its later iterations (SD 800 - 805).
Their core parking implementation was horse shit and took so many CPU cycles that devices experience noticeable stutter whenever a core was offlined.

We don't have to talk about the 810 I think. Im still amazed how they fucked up stock ARM cores this badly.

Kryo (SD 820/821) is also a completely shit architecture and, again, falls behind reference Cortex cores and Exynos M1 in terms of performance and efficiency.
By the way, the Kryo 280 cores in the SD 835 are actually semi custom Cortex cores (read: literally stock apart from minor frontend changes), which says a lot about Kryo's competitiveness.

Adreno also only shines in synthetic benchmarks and regularly falls behind Mali in performance and efficiency.

They only nice things they have going for them are their modems and the Hexagon DSP.

Qualcomm forced cell phone companies to purchase their chips in order to license LTE patents required to ship LTE phones.

You can't just make some chips from sand...
Or can you?

>>58641776
don't mind me i'm being retarded, i mistook one thing for something else

in other news: samsung
>>

In case you meant Techwin, you're actually correct.
>>
>>58641804
Which brings us back to the original problem, that Samsung has been hoarding sand.
>>
>>58641939
Techwin is just a defense contractor that makes surveillance robots among other things.

Samsung sold Techwin to another defense company anyways.
>>
>>58639944

You'd think Google could have secured some of those 835's with all their money.
