The SSD is NVMe and the Quad SSD PCIe card is M.2. Will it work?
So I plugged the SSD into the first bay labeled SATA1 (Not sure why it's called that, but it fits). My PC would shut off after 1 second. So I plugged it into bay SATA4. It booted up, but Windows 10 doesn't detect any new hardware. I ran the installation CD, but nothing is happening. The install CD had a folder for Windows XP and Windows Vista (wtf). This quad card was like $100 on Amazon. Should I return it?
What motherboard do you have? You need UEFI enabled to use nvme devices.

Lmao Op why the fuck is your shit on that staticy ass carpet

this. probably fried something.
What brand/model of card is that? Mobo? Did you look in the bios to see if you have to turn anything on?
You're so stupid that card is sata over m2 not pci e. Going to get 1 fourth the speed you should

I took the pic on the carpet after I already had installed it without touching the carpet. So that can't be it.
I also just tried bay SATA-2, and that shuts off the PC also.

Mac Pro 2009, but I have Bootcamp on it and use Windows 10. I'm probably never going to buy an Apple Product again, unless it's some superior for of an Apple Watch.
Thing is, I bought this Toshiba SSD before (the exact same one), but I bought it with the PCI-E adapter that came with it. Windows picked up the drive with no problem. But I wanted to make it the primary boot drive and for that I need to install OSX on it from the Mac side first in order to get Bootcamp to recognize it as the primary drive. But the Mac side could never pick it up. I was able to boot into their shitty firmware operating system that came with the Toshiba drive though and it could see the drive from there as well. So the only operating systems that could pick up the drive are not made by fucking Apple... I was hoping I'd find a card that would work with OSX.

Yeah, I was afraid of this... I just wanted to be able to install my shit on it for now, because my original WD Black drive that came with this PC is already 8 years old. It's time to retire it and move to a new primary drive.

nigga it is still on the carpet tho... If you were that dumb in the first place.
>mac
It all makes sense now

Thanks for letting me know that it's SATA over M.2. I got this drive to get the fastest speed. I guess I'll return the adapter. Although I have a 2009 Mac Pro (which only has PCIe 2.0), I was going to get the best parts so that I can transplant them when I build a new PC. So I guess my quest is to find an M.2 card that's compatible with Mac for the time being.
Can some also explain to me the difference between NVMe and M.2?
Yeah....
M.2 over SATA. Fucking shit.
$125 for this.
