Honestly the DoD is in a perfect position to begin transitioning to Linux.

Win 7 is EoS in 2020, Win 10 is shit, and we really don't have much in the way of Windows dependent applications. The biggest thing is that there's really not much of a replacement for Outlook/MS Office on Linux. Wine is not a solution here.

Everything else is web based or java based and could be migrated to Linux with minimal effort. The biggest hurdles would be migrating from AD, and retraining all our 3D0's.

Of course, that's not going to happen, since MS keeps the green flowing into the right pockets.
