This motherfucker over here. My brother had it. It has the form of a tiny keyboard but it took a gigantic CASSETTE player.

Fan times. It took ages to load anything from a cassette tape. It was often faster to literally type the code yourself, yes.

Then he got an Amstrad 464 with cassette and then a 6128 with a disk. My first was a glorious Amiga 500.

I only used the PCjr for about a 2 years, until my dad gave me his PC Portable with 640K and a 20MB hard drive. I used that until 1993 when I went to college.

I did all my BBSing on it, I had an external CGA monitor hooked up to it also.

I even had an IBM Laser Printer E with 4MB on it. My printer had more memory than my computer.

The very first computer my family had was a hand me down apple 2 my aunt gave us sometime in the early 90's. I don't remember exactly when other than it was around Christmas. All we really did with it was play Carmen Sandiego or some crappy flight sim on it. After that dad stuck a deal with me and bought a Compaq Presariot after I took up raking all our leaves that fall (we had a lot of land and a lot of trees it was a pretty fair deal for all the time involved.) That was in 98 because I remember waiting a few months because we figured we might as well get the newest windows version available. I started building my own computers around 2003. I sold an old dirtbike I hadn't used for years for 1000 bucks and used the money to buy the parts.

Don't remember but it had windows 98 (or 95?) And that big sign IT IS NOW SAFE TO SHUT DOWN or whatever it was the translation. Think it was a pentium 3. Don't even know how we got rid of it. However, my first PC I remember for sure was a pentium 4, 256mb ram updated to 768, 40GB HDD and we added another 80, don't remember the first GPU but then we bought a 256mb nvidia something, winXP obv, playing serious Sam and watching porn on CDs found in my fathers closet. I sold the components last year I think to a shop, made like 40€ out of what it could be used. With that and another athlon (that was my first true PC) my mom bought herself a laptop

A 486. Can't remember the rest of the specs. Upgraded to a Pentium in high school, then a P2 a couple of years later.

Family had a P4 from high school onward until the mobo blew some capacitors.

Wish I still had the 486 or the P2. I'm on the lookout for an old computer like that, but not having much luck.

I was 7 or 8 when I used my aunt's desktop. I don't know the model or anything, I just know it ran Windows XP.

I used it now and then to ask Google the questions you ask as a kid: "how do airplanes work?", "what's the smallest thing we can see?", etc. I'd also look up images of stuff I'd never seen in person, and ask questions about the games I played: "what is Vaati's hat made of?", as well as read parts of walkthroughs in case I couldn't beat a game. (They were scarce in my native language, Portuguese, and I didn't speak English at the time, so I spent at least a month before I was able to climb that one mountain in The Minish Cap)

After that, my aunt gave me her Toshiba laptop when she got a new one, and I used it to read creepypasta at night, read blogs, and slowly absorb English words.

I got my first laptop when I was 11 and I'd play flash games, chat with people on MSN(mostly people from other states since I barely talked to anyone from school), etc.

After that I had multiple desktops, installed Windows 7 release candidates, etc.

An old custom-built (by my great uncle) AT-chassis computer with a turbo button and like a 4 GB hard drive somehow running Windows XP. I still have it in the basement but it's missing some parts and needs cleaned up. Played RCT2 and some old CD-ROM based games on that guy for days. It was the "family computer" for a while but then mom got a new one and gave it to me since I had an obvious interest.
>Owned as my own
Old HP Pavilion Media Center laptop. Pentium 4 with 512MB of RAM and once again, Windows XP. This one I played RCT2 on still, tons of flash games, and SPORE when it came out (ran like shit). This was basically a really slim PC, super loud fans, got extremely hot. It would overheat if left on a flat surface, so I had to hang it over the edge of the table. Then the screen died. So I hooked it up to a CRT.
Then the power brick got flaky.
Then it just BSODed one day. It soldiered on for years though, I did anything to keep my "fast" computer running.
>First built
In like 08 I built one with my great uncle who built the first one up there. Phenom II X4 940 CPU with ATI Radeon HD4850. I still have it in its more-or-less original form today. Still wouldn't be afraid to game on it, honestly.
