>>58605922
I just installed LTSB 2016 N. I actually kinda like it so far. And I had 1511 Enterprise before that and despised the OS.

LTSB N removes almost all of the bullshit (no edge, no cortana, no store, no shitty start tiles, no ads), and the rest you can turn off through GPO. I still like Win7 better, but I'd argue Win10 LTSB N is actually a passable OS, as opposed to pretty much every other version.
>>

And instead of LTSB I would suggest Edu. Comes without Cortana, withotu ads and with limited Shop functionality, but dont have problems related with new builds like LTSB.

>>

Education is build on Enterprise and all it have changed is what I listed: lack of Cortana and ads. Everything else should stay as in normal Enterprise.

Sadly, I ddint test it out myself yet - I have copy of both Edu and Server 2016 and empty SSD, but cant decide between those two.

You could also consider that Server 2016, tho.
>>
>>58607866
Because they aren't braindead normals.
>>
>>58607866
because they;
- are more likely to have used something besides windows to draw comparison from
- are more likely to use anything besides the absolute bare basics
- are more likely to understand how well something should run, and notice if it isn't
etc

i was perfectly happy with windows when i was younger, too, why wouldn't i have been? it was all i knew, i just accepted that that was how it was
>>
>>58607896
I have access to Server 2016 as well from my account. I decided to go back to windows and I have all these god damn versions now that it's almost silly. Even those embedded standard ones that took me a while to find a few years ago, holy shit.

>>58607866
Most people I know who know how to use a computer and -that's about it- (mainly people who use it for vidya, work or doing things tablets do perfectly these days) didn't like windows 8 when it came out, don't like windows 10 either. They just cope with it thinking there's very little alternative, and think macOS is probably the bees fucking knees but they are all poor as shit.

Really, there's no actual love for Windows. I have a lot of people complaining to me now about the updates nagging them and listening to all this crap about being spied on like it's the first time that their data has ever been tracked. They are no computer experts either, they just run with it because they don't have the fucking time to investigate any alternatives.

linux based operating systems can be installed much faster, and actually come with usable software out of the box(unlike the tumblrina special snowflake attention whore genderqueer trash that Microsoft calls an ``office suite" that takes up space on your hard drive and doesn't even let you use the entirety of your screen without paying for an upgrade). i've used that before, and some older versions of regular windows (like 95/98) allowed you to chooses whether to install some things or not during install

but it's not very fine grained, most of the options are just addon software which were never needed to support other programs

9x actually did a better job than newer embedded versions, things like drivers were requested from the floppies/cd upon install rather than dumping the entirety of the install media onto the disk

You pretty much can through GPO on Enterprise. Not to mention LTSB has most of their spying methods removed by default (no UWP, no Cortana)

Fair, but it bothers me less with LTSB - probably because no UWP, which is where the differences are REALLY noticeable. It's still not as good as Win7 though. I said passable, not good.

Windows 10 has so much potential but it's locked behind Microsoft's giant closed source cock.

I'm considering upgrading to Enterprise so I can properly remove Cortana and Telemetry and associated bullshit.

>tfw world's most fucked up resolution
>>
>>58607709
LTSB has no Cortana, no shop, and no UWP. Hell, it even has the old calc.exe

LTSB 2016 is the one you want - it's based of 1607. LTSB 2015 is kind of a shitshow because it's 1507 which was buggy as shit.

Education is still subject to feature upgrades.
>>

You can pretty much remove telemetry in Enterprise. Just set it to Security in GPO and use another GPO setting to route all reports to a dead-end on your network.

Cortana is baked into Enterprise though. No getting rid of that. Need LTSB or Education to get that bitch out.
