Not sure how it accelerates drawing in Linux, but it may not be using the GPU as well, or the drivers might be bad. Also, some "desktop" Linux distros are pretty horribly optimized for any actual interactive (~= soft realtime) use.

I'm on a i5-4670K, 16 GB, Windows 10 and a GTX 1070. Drivers should be fine.

Hardware should be fine; background tabs (especially with any video content) will still make it stutter like crazy.

Linux is generally shit. You have to tweak everything for months upon months. Once you are finished, you then realize all the software is on Windows.
