Why smoothscrolling is so shit on Firefox under Linux?
>>
If you mix shit with shit... it's still shit.
>>
>>58604129
this.
>>
>>58604071
It's kinda shit even under Windows if you have more than 1 tab open.

Not sure how it accelerates drawing in Linux, but it may not be using the GPU as well, or the drivers might be bad. Also, some "desktop" Linux distros are pretty horribly optimized for any actual interactive (~= soft realtime) use.
>>
>>58604071
>Firefox
Found your problem. Use Chromium faggot.
>>
>>58604071
Seamonkey >:3

smooth scrolling has always been and will always be a shitty forced meme

>It's kinda shit even under Windows if you have more than 1 tab open.

Not seeing the issue. Pale Moon x64, Windows 10, i7-2600K, GTX 680.

Maybe your hardware just sucks or your drivers/OS are ancient?
>>
>>58605520
I'm on a i5-4670K, 16 GB, Windows 10 and a GTX 1070. Drivers should be fine.

Hardware should be fine; background tabs (especially with any video content) will still make it stutter like crazy.
>>
Linux is generally shit. You have to tweak everything for months upon months. Once you are finished, you then realize all the software is on Windows.
>>
>>58605545
Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in preferences? Sounds like a driver problem to me so that could fix it.
>>
>>58605545
Yeah, even with a 1080p video playing in another tab, I don't see any choppyness in the scrolling. Try a different Firefox variant maybe.
>>
>>58605660
Might do that. Seems to drop several frames every few seconds even when the page shouldn't have any JS fuckery going on.
>>
>>58604071

>Linux

You probably need several drivers and packages to get it to work properly.
>>
>>58604071
never noticed problems with new intel graphics or nvidia
weak graphics do struggle though, like what you'd find in a server
it's easy to disable though, so no big problem there
>>
>>58604071
Linux doesn't have proper hw accel and it never will.
>>
>>58604071

are you getting hardware acceleration? check about:support.
>>
>>58604071
There is a problem with smooth scroling on Firefox under Ĺinux?

Works on my machine.

Blame your GPU driver vendors
>>
>>58604129
Then if you mix linux and firefox you get windows?
>>
>>58605974
It's just disabled by default for whatever reason. It works fine.
>>
Works perfectly on Intel and Nvidia here.

Must be an AMD problem.
