How /free/ are you /g/?
>>
>>58601325
I'm free from systemd, what about (You)?
>>
>>58601345
not yet unfortunately; I'm really considering it, though

how big is the chance of bricking your PC when you replace it?
>>
>>58601368
If you just replace it as init, literally 0. Debian still ships with the legacy init scripts for sysvinit/openrc and even if that fucks up, in the grub menu you can choose to boot with systemd (just remember to update-grub2 after you install sysvinit-core)

Why do you have an issue with systemd? It's licensed as free software.

It does not really work on ubuntu since they don't exactly follow the main/contrib/non-free scheme. Also does not work outside of the package manager so yeah.

I'm pretty sure this is incorrect, and what the hell are ambiguously licensed packages? Does anyone know? This is my first time hearing of vrms.

such a sexy logo , too bad they use ubuntu and not debian as the base (maybe it would be properly maintained and latest version then, instead of 14.04), but i guess the do it for the PPAs.

I made the logo for screenfetch myself, because the default one is horrendous (let's see if the code field is okay with this)

Good lord i forgot how cancerous Desktop GNU+Linux really is.
Just started up Noobuntu for old times sake. Everything is laggy, programs crashing left and right, no quality control whatsoever.
The worst thing is the package manager, that just fucks everything up.

How the hell I liked it as a teenager is beyond me. Then I remember spending hours or days to make some shitty programms work, and I knew why i switched to windows.

I still laugh when I remember the neckbeard profs in uni struggling with their shitnux distro, when something fucks up and they had to spend 30 minutes of lecture time to just show up their slides again.

tell me /g/, when did you grow out of desktop linux?

What is it actually? I thought it's just updates? There's microcode running regardless if you update it, so what can you do?

Not to good. I need nvidia-drivers for muh gaymen.
>>
>>58605975
same. and the drivers are atrocious. I have the worst screen tearing that even vsync in games wont fix and random drops in framerates. Windows gaming is pretty decent, but the windows drivers are somewhat unstable for hardware acceleration in chrome.
>>
>>58603339
I'm pretty sure systemd doesn't follow the UNIX philosophy. It's extremely monolithic, is not well contained and is rather complex (e.g. journald).
