I was thinking about a program to scan the area around cursor. When the mouse gets clicked the text is added to a list or string array.
Dont realy know where to look for, maybe somebody knows a library for that.

Tomorrow stylesheet > default stylesheet
ocr
oh maybe the picture was misleading, i was also thinking about other applications.
So you want to
>Press a button to activate a "mode" where you can box out a region of the screen
>Save that region as an image
>Have the image scanned for text which will then be stored in a variable
Is that correct? I'm just trying to figure out what you're trying to do here because I'm not really clear on it.

You figured it out pretty good.
I think tesseract ocr is a good start.

Okay here's my novice suggestion that I don't 100% know how to implement but I think it might work. You're going to need tesseract, sys, and pyperclip.
>Bind the python script to a hotkey
>When the program is started, it launches your screenshot program of choice and then starts watching your images folder
>You screenshot a region like you would normally
>When the script finds that the number of images in the watched folder has changed, it uses tesseract on the newest image
>It then uses pyperclip to copy the output to your clipboard
>It deletes the image
>Program ends
