If they're using the same connectors, I don't see how it can make any difference - it's 12V DC, it's not like it can't flow through the cable because you use it opposite of "how it's supposed to go in".

rename the hexdump and put ".jpg" at the end, then try to open it with a jpeg decoder (image viewer)

Dell Ultrasharps are generally pretty good and have nice features like an off setting for the power indicator so you don't need to tape over it. Could maybe get more for your money if color accuracy isn't a concern. You're paying for it to be pre-calibrated when you get an Ultrasharp. For maximum comfort, verify on tftcentral that whatever you're getting has real dimming instead of pwm.

I just got a mechanical keyboard and everything is fine except a set of the keys triggers their neighbors when pressed no matter what setting the keyboard is on.
For example, typing '6yhn' or '7ujm' results in: '67yuhjnm'
There are no specific drivers needed and the results are consistent for 3 different operation systems. I'm pretty sure its got a short circuit in it, but I'm new to mechanical keyboards. Am I missing something or should I go ahead and send it back?

I've heard Blu-rays are great for archiving because they have extremely low decay-rates, are fucking hard as nails and offer decent sizes per [currency] since you can buy them in bulk.

Equally you can get huge capacity flash drives for a cup of shitty coffee from Starschmucks.

As for storing them, google around for a decent checksum-based archiving filesystem or file type if you are unable to change the underlying filesystem (as in flash drives mostly)

>>58577806
The only way I can think of is some weird extension that hijacks all URLs by default and looks for the separator parameter you choose, then split them all in to tabs.

You'd need to write it yourself though.
It wouldn't be too hard to do if you know basic JavaScript.
It mainly involves using a RegEx to find your seperator, then opening tabs with your RegEx'd list of data.

There are archival grade ones, lasting up to 100 years and M-Disc ones lasting up to 1000 years. You probably won't need M-Discs, they're more expensive and unnecessary unless you have something you wish to pass onto your grandchildren.
Regular optical discs last around 5-15 years depening on how well you store them and how often you use them. It's completely up to you to decide which ones to use.

separate home partition in linux- should I have one? it seems needlessly complicated. How would I merge it back to the root?
>>
>>58579172
The problem with extra partitions is it increases the number of writes needed by a little bit.
MAINLY if you are moving files from system drive to any other partition.
That is including temporary files browsers make when saving and moving from local caches, for example. I know Chrome stopped doing that in recent versions for straight file downloads that were already sent to your home directory.

But they are handy in that it allows easy OS and data separation. (good for backups too)
if you have a decent backup system and don't care for HYPER SPEEDs, there's no issues with a small increase in writes you might see from it.

As for remerging it, no idea since never tried it.

kek, great image

>>58579228
>increases the number of writes
No, it doesn't - what it does do is potentially increase the number of sectors that the disk has to seek over, assuming it's a harddisk.

>>58579260
There is no standard.
>>
>>58579172
You only need it if you plan on reinstalling the OS in future. Like, keeping files and maybe software settings in the home partition if your OS ever breaks, like >>58579228 said. Or, if you want to share the partition with other operating systems.
I do this myself on Windows by keeping muh gayms on a seperate partition and system and software on the primary one. On Linux I just keep everything in the same place for simplicity. All software comes pre-installed on normie distros and set-up time is much shorter than windows so there's no reason to keep anything seperate, other than downloads which I move to another drive.

Okay then. Which one is the de-facto standard?
>>
>>58579348
>No, it doesn't
Yes, it can.

A separate partition means there is 2 or more file tables.
That means if you move a file between 2 partitions, not only do you need to update the file table, you also need to move the entire file to the new partition.

As you know, a standard file delete just deletes the locator, not the file data itself.

It's how most file systems work.
It's how partitions work.

There's no real way to do partitions WITHOUT this facet of it, otherwise it isn't really a partition and is just a folder living a lie.

Partitions are physical separations on the disc.
They have different offsets in memory.
Having a global file table for a hard drive would be horrific, especially in dual-boot.

I should probably explain that I see no reason why you would move data from your home partition to anywhere else. Personal data goes on the home partition, stuff that isn't personal goes elsewhere (specifically, in another dataset that's mounted elsewhere). If I need to build something, I do it in a mfs mounted in /tmp with autofs.

ZFS also doesn't make use of file tables.

Folders are just arbitrations that makes it easier for a human to interact with a computer.

most file cleaners can find and remove duplicates

or if that fails somehow you could SHA1sum all the files, throw all the info into a spreadsheet like this (can probably make a script to do this)

filename | SHA1
filename | SHA1
filename | SHA1

and sort the hex numbers. if there are two in a row that are the same the two files are the same

So I have a 60GB SSD in my laptop.

nope, i'm not certain what it removes, but it doesn't remove update backups

i put together a fully updated windows 7 installer iso recently, and after much research, found there's no official way to do it, and only 2 tools that can do it, both paid
one of them is NTLite, which i found a copy of, and it did the job nicely

Math is hard for some people because they expect to just pick it up and know it. Like it's some all-encompassing skill.

It's really not. It's a set of correlated skillsets that have some basic rules in common. People who are 'good' at math weren't born with excellent understanding of numbers. They busted their ass off in-class to examine what they were being told and make thought experiments for themselves to see if the rules they learned still held up if they tried the same problem a different way.

The people who only work the problems assigned to them in-class and then never consider what this rule actually means in the grand scheme of what they already know will never 'get' math. They will continue to memorize rules and tricks in order to pass tests and then move on to their other classes.

Find an interesting problem that you always wanted to solve and then try to understand the basis behind it and why it is solved that way. Math didn't really 'click' for me until I took a couple of physics classes which applied it to real-life.

>>58583473
Modern clients support doing everything from moving the torrent from one computer to another and then resuming. So putting your computer to sleep or even shutting it down won't affect it one bit.

So quick question:
What is the best way to buy a VPN?

I know next to nothing about bitcoins or rechargable cards. Using my credit card for a VPN seems to defeat the purpose.

PS: Nothing I'm doing is illegal. It's more for experimenting with SSH servers.
>>
>>58583209
>>58583555
this, some people are content with just accepting something as true or not, and aren't concerned with the why or how
math only makes sense once you understand why or how an answer is true or not
