Ya know, I had a c2d shitbox that ran vista in the closet for years. Quit using it because it was so slow and shitty. Recently, my mobo shit its self, and I was without a 'pooter. Drag out the shitbox, install a gnu/linux distro, and it has never ran better. Not so bad on day to day tasks, very impressed.

You actually can now, there was a "ME cleaner" tool you can use to lobotomize your BIOS (or "firmware" as its called nowadays) so that it won't work.
