Is Poojitsoft trying to make W10 Education go away?
Yesterday they released the updated W10 ISOs, but Education was not among them.

Reminder: Education is the only W10 version that doesn't have Cortana.
>>
Is it?

I have access to that version for free. Should I grab that one? I'm looking for the best version of Windows 10 that I can have, and I have no need for Cortana or any of those fucking "apps".
>>
>>58573443
>Education
LTSB is better.
>>
>>58573621
no, education has so very little control it's absolutely disgusting
>>
>>58573443
>>>/v/
>>
>>58573443

>Education is the only W10 version that doesn't have Cortana.

What is LTSB?
>>
>>58573672
What the fuck are you talking about?
Education is pretty much just Enterprise without Cortana.

>>58573679
A meme version. Store apps could become useful at some point.
>>
>>58573705
>store apps could become useful at some point
lmao

also I have edu on my school-provided laptop and it'd shit, simply put
>>
>>58573705

Useful how? The apps are bloated garbage made to shove the most ads physically possible in. It has been years and it is still shit, it needs to be let go.
>>
>>58573705
>Store apps
You can install them on LTSB. YOu can even install the Store itself..
>>
>>58573731
You need to be 18+ to post here.

>>58573734
It's only been like a year since W10/Store had any meaningful marketshare.
>>
>>58573755

It didn't take off in 8, either.
>>
so the next big update apparently has less creepy spying bullshit. is the message finally getting through to nutella?
>>
Every W10 has Cortana, its just renamed Search on LTSB. You cannot escape.
>>
>>58573831

No, because you get EVEN MORE ADS EVERYWHERE.
>>
>>58573443
Wrong. Pro Education, Server 2016 and Enterprise LTSB also do not come with Cortana.
>>
>>58573743
All your posts shill either Windows, Firefox, VLC and AIMP. Are you paid to do this?
>>
>>58574452
But they aren't free as in beer, unlike edu edition.

This is as close as I could get to debotnetify my win 10 ltsb N. (running programs: skype, farr, flux, classic start menu)
>>
>>58576658
Generally speaking, 7 Ultimate x64 should take 620-650MB on cold boot. With Aero effects enabled.
>>
>>58576233
so what is it doing?
>>
>>58576719
Microsoft does not tell exactly what they're collecting.
>>
>>58576683
>620-650MB

That's how much I was on win 8.1 pro as well. Around 34 running processes though :/. 10 less processes than in windows 10. (all windows apps disabled and search/cortana removed).

>>58576719
Uselessly wasting 13% of your CPU ressources
>>
So what's the verdict? Which version is best?
>>
>>58576233
Don't pretend you don't shill 7, and also don't pretend that windows 7 doesn't have telemetry and privacy issues.
>>
Botnet 10 education/enterprise/LTSB are literally god-tier.
>>
>>58577508
I don't shill WIndows 7, I help people who want to install and update Windows 7. And Windows 7 doesn't have telemetry and privacy issues.

>I help people who want to install and update Windows 7.
How much are you paid to do this?

I'll just leave this here:

Those merely update the telemetry client. Nothing to worry about unless you join CEIP.

The rest is meant for the Win 10 offer and and ease of upgrade. Not even offered anymore.

I'm not, although I wish I would (:

What? The fact that Windows 7 allows you to filter which ever updates you want to install? I already knew this.

Who gives a shit? You can turn off Cortana and never see her again with three right clicks.
>>
>>58579495
>What? The fact that Windows 7 allows you to filter which ever updates you want to install?
False. Microsoft is aggressively pushing towards adding telemetry to Windows 7 and 8 through updates.
Microsoft has publicly admitted back in 2007 that it has backdoors in its OS which can install their "updates" without your consent.
And WIndows Genuine Advantage is present in all versions of windows 7, and actively circumvents the users privacy.
http://en.windows7sins.org/privacy/
Stop shilling harmful software.
>>
>>58579632
Windows 7 does not install updates without your consent. Stop posting liks to garbage websites and lean about security only rollups before calling me a shill.
>>
>>58579495
You're a giant hypocrite. You call chrome/chromium a botnet and NSA spying tool, but turn a blind eye to an insecure, NSA backdoored OS.
>>
>>58579665
Chromium is botnet. Install Wireshark and see for yourself.
>>
Ltsb N is with start 10 is the best. You even get the old calculator and photo viewer back. And edge +apps aren't installed.

Its perfect. Like a hybrid 10/7

Not saying it isnt. But windows 7 does not respect your privacy either. Youre only deluding yourself if you think it does.
>>
>>58579761
Oh yes, it does. 7 left alone does nothing in background. I knwo, I tried.
>>
>>58579788
Microsofts privacy policy on Windows 7 says they can access your system if they have good reason to.
>>
>>58579651
>Stop posting liks to garbage websites
Those garbage websites have evidence proving you wrong. And users complained about 7 installing updates without consent back when it was released.
>>
>>58579827
Where?

>>
>>58579858
No, they don't. I've been using 7 since early beta (that's how I got my Ultimate key) and it never installed any update without my consent.
>>
>>58579866
https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-7-privacy-statement?pivotId=d457e397-2439-4036-8056-01afb813fb6d&pivotItemId=ed087d82-8762-4ae1-a5bb-fe4cea48958e
3rd paragraph under collection and use of your information.
>>
>>58579712

It uses 30 megabytes of memory while idle in the background, which is not worth worrying about when you have 8 gigs to play with.
>>
>>58579897
>Standard computer information typically includes information such as your IP address, operating system version, browser version, and regional and language settings
You are an idiot. You get that from IP and User agent.
>>
>>58579937
>Microsoft may access or disclose information about you, including the content of your communications, in order to: (a) comply with the law or respond to lawful requests or legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of Microsoft or our customers, including the enforcement of our agreements or policies governing your use of the software; or (c) act on a good faith belief that such access or disclosure is necessary to protect the personal safety of Microsoft employees, customers, or the public.

You are illiterate. I literally told you 3rd paragraph under collection and use of your information, and you went to the next header, 1st paragraph.
>>
Is Windows 10 the official OS of /g/?
>>
>>58580004
There's no way to place any personal information within 7's UI. So there's that. They have the IP if you pull updates, but that's it. Mind you that CEIP is disabled by default in 7.

>>58580004
>including the content of your communications
So Skype or LiveMessenger, which neither are part of Windows 7.
>>
>>58580128
Your illiteracy is showing again. That clause lawyer speak saying they can access any and all the contents of your machine for the reasons above. Any information that is stored in the OS is fairgame.
Communications here refers to network communications, and isn't limited to any application. If it were, it would be in the privacy policy of those applications, not in the PP of win7.
>>
>>58580013
>half of /g/ using it
>the rest of /g/ won't stop talking about it
Yep.
>>
>>58580226
Ofcourse, any company says that they will disclose the information they have about you under aw pressure. It is the law and they're forced to do so. Microsoft says that they will disclose all the information that 7 sends about you. Well, 7 doesn't send any information about you. They can't pull files and call it sync, because 7 doesn't have that. Your IP is not tied to any personal information either, and the location of any IP is public information. They don't have means of "syncing" your encryption key either, 7 doesn't sync with any server, unless you tell it to do so.. Again, you're trying to throu mud, but you're failing miserably.

>>58580013
Nope
>>
>>58580367
I never said it was syncing with any servers. I said there are backdoors which Microsoft can access your data. They admitted their own encryption is backdoored.
And it isn't just limited to law enforcement, they can access your data if they feel they need to. That's literally what clause (c) says.
Microsoft is a prism member, they already send data to the NSA, and the NSA can access your computer .
I'm "throwing mud" because alternatives that respect you privacy and aren't backdoored exist, yet you push windows 7 under the guise it's safe.
>>
>>58580473
Which data? Did you read my post before you replied? And are they going to break some chained encryption algorithm like AES-Twofish-Serpent too? Plese..
>>
>>58580593
Any data on your computer. If you use 3rd party encryption, you're fine (depending). But Microsoft's bitlocker is backdoored.
>>
>>58580661
>Any data on your computer
How are they going to "sync" it? Again, Win7 does not provde this functionality.
>>
>>58579520
Now open task manager
>>
>>58580736
Via updates, unless you disable updates entirely, Microsoft can always force an update that'll communicate with their servers. They've already done this.
>>
>>58573443

It is, but LTSB costs big moneys.
You need a high-tier, pricey Enterprise sub for that.
>>
>>58576719
Best part, the telemetry settings default after updates / from time to time. Once that happens, I get "Telemetry reporting.." applications every time I open or close something - and they eat a fucking lot CPU, IO and ram.

Seriously with this much resource, it's possible they record every bits of data.
