1440p IPS Gsync Monitors

Wait to see what 2017 has to offer or buy?

I had an Asus Pg279q for 6 months but I'm returning it due to a manufacturing fault that developed. I had to send 3 back until I had one with acceptable backlight bleed and it's a shame I have to send this back.

So what do I do /g/
*Rebuy Pg279q when price goes down (it's higher than when I bought it)

*Buy a Dell s2716dg TN 144hz Gsync, with a Dell IPS 60Hz for a dual monitor setup

*Wait for what 2017 has to offer (nothing a t CES was that impressive though)

Thanks /g/

This year is when the better 4k monitors are set to be launched.
Ive had my PG278q for a while and not had an issue with it. I got it mainly as a stop gap until they give us some half decent 4k screens

true hdr10 capable monitor will cost like 1800$

the new Asus hdr capable monitor still isn't fully HDR capable.

the standards transceds over 10000 nits which is only available on few tv's.

to get the best quality out of an HDR (stream) capable device you need more years to come

i'd just get whatever quantum dot comes first with desired specs. a native hardware color enhancement is better than any HDR content
>>
>I had to send it back three times
How about you kill yourself? Backlight bleed is hardly noticeable unless you're in complete darkness AND viewing a very dark image.
>>
>>58572566
+ inducing eye cancer with 100% backlight brightness which is unecessary on almost all kind of monitors
>>
>>58572555
>1000 nits
completely unneccessary though

I mean I have my displays at 50 nits currently. The important part is the low black point, and then if you can go up to maybe 300 nits or so on top of that it would be more than fine for a computer monitor

>true hdr10 capable monitor will cost like 1800$
PG27UQ will cost $2000, yeah

>the standards transceds over 10000 nits which is only available on few tv's.
Standard only goes up to 10k nits actually, and afaik no device can do that at all currently

Even the pro devices are only sitting at like 2000 nits. This brightness war is stupid though

Last time I checked, all 27 inch 1440p 144Hz IPS monitors use the same panel. And they're all plagued by QC issues.

The safe choice would be to get a Dell S2716DG, which is unfortunately TN, but you'll get Dell quality and customer service. That's what I did.

I love you poor people who pull the jew card out as you cant afford the good stuff and thus have to buy the inferior instead

If you're waiting for OLED or actual quantum dot screens to be impressed, you're going to be waiting for a long time.

Waiting on an ultrawide OLED panel.
