We don't have admin rights to install fonts on our main dev PCs at work so Consolas it is!
I use Dejavu on my other dev PC where I do have admin rights.

Yep. It's for security reasons, there's nothing we can do about it except get a dedicated dev machine but then it doesn't have internet access and fuck that. We actually dev on Linux VMs but to access them we use our Windows desktops and those are very locked down.

Where do you work? A gov research facility?

I usually just stuck with the default until I realized how much of a difference changing your font to something you like makes. You know? It's like... A whole new thing. Feels great.
With that said... I still don't know which one to stick to. Even tried Roboto, but Hack seems to work the best so far. At LEAST it has some sort of reason behind why it is the way it is.

Monaco for Powerline (vim on Fedora). It's Apple's. They never go wrong on fonts. Steve Jobs literally studied typography in college.

WTFPL, bitmap, just werks(tm), pleasant to stare at for hours. Only wish I could get a proper CSS set up for 4chan to use GohuFont properly, as it interacts poorly with hinting and AA.
