No they don't suck juice. They aren't that insensitive either and because of the high impedance, they don't draw much power.
>>

One with 2Vrms and 40mwatts in the output at minimum, Micca Origen+ has a super confy limit of 1.7Vrms on low and 100mwatts max, so you have a confy listen level on low. The drawback are the shit drivers.

AKG K612 or K701 seem to fit what you're looking for a bit better, since they're open and more on the neutral/bright side. Latter might require a (fairly basic) amp though.
>>
e17k for $90, or fulla 2 for $100?

You would love the k612 pro but might need an amp, the hd598SE has great highs IMO and is mostly neutral and doesnt need an amp

>>58559572
>>58559614
you wont satisfy your criteria of neutral/bright nor the fact that you are looking for preferably open back headphones with k550. in fact i wouldn't recommend those headphones to anyone regardless of their preference. at the very least not without having a listen in a shop.

try hd 558 for open back or mdr-7506 for closed back. both are easily driven from low powered devices like smartphones or laptops. if you really don't care but want comfortable, dt770 perhaps? it has a v-shape somewhat similar to the akg 550(when it works properly) but it's much more comfortable.

>>58559627
k612 is the least sensitive akg. it needs an amplifier more than most headphones on the market, including akg's own "higher end" models.

>>58559653
if you can muster up that 10 bucks and don't need portability(battery operation), fulla is better.
>>
>>58559614
The 55Xs are not open.
>>
>>58559688

I would like to eventually upgrade, but for now I was looking for something that would be easily driven by low powered devices and which I could carry around with me for convenience, listening to at the gym and on a daily comute, etc. thanks for the advice anon.

Tone wise the philips are more bright than the senhs, the philips cable can be replased the senhs has a 3metter 1/4 cable with an adaptor, i say the philips are more portable. The HD598SE have 2 cables and are a little brighter than the HD558, consider them if you find them cheap

just received akg k712pro this morning.
sound great.
bit of a change from my dt990s and 770s but, i'm loving it. A lot less bass, but the beyers have too much anyway. I think AKG has hit the sweet spot with the bass on these. Really dynamic, great natural tones, great soundstage. And they are really comfy too.
Im pleased.

Any good recommendations for hearing protection wireless bluetooth headphones?
>>
>>58560373
Bose's QC line is the leader in active noise cancelling
if you just want decent active noise cancelling with better audio, consider sennheiser's PXC 550
>>
>>58560322
How's the build quality and sturdiness? Do they sound well with high impedance output amps?
>>
I just got the cheap pads for my superlux 668b. However, it came with 2 foam things between the pads. Am I supposed to put the foam things in the pads and then put in on my headphones? First time buying pads so not sure. Here's what I got https://www.amazon.com/Cosmos-Velvet-Replacement-Cushion-Headphones/dp/B00KLPRQMO
>>
>>58560809
>How's the build quality
they feel a bit flimsy compared with the beyers but the the beyers are brutes and heavy, the akg are light on the head, i don't think i'll have any problems unless i abuse them. Build quality certainly looks good. Obviously i've just got them so it's impossible to say.
Though I don't think they'll survive the same abuse the beyers do.

>Do they sound well with high impedance output amps?
According to reviews i've read, they need a lot of power to sound their best. I'm running them through an e09k, which will power just about anything, and they sound great. Running them from just the e17 alpen they definitely don't sound as good but, far from terrible.
>>
>>58560936
I have that exact setup with my 668B's. They're the smaller thin foam filters right?
>>
>>58560971
Yes, it just came in a white box with nothing else so not sure if it's supposed to be in the pads or not.
>>
>>58560936
Yeah put them behind the pads. It'll cut out the highs a bit, which the 668b's desperately need.
>>
>>58560947
I have read that the spring band thing becomes loose rather quickly so they just hang on your head instead of sitting tightly.

By high impedance output I meant amps that output let's say 10 ohms instead of 1, those are the majority and supposedly low impedance headphones sound poorly with them due to the driver being out of control or whatever, the 1/8 and ideally 1/10 rule. Meaning K712 needs output impedance of 7.3 ohms or ideally 5.8 to sound properly.

That miight be audiofool delusions but who knows.

I just looked up e09k specs and the output impedance is of 10 ohms, which is more than those headphones need but I guess if they sound good, we can dismiss this issue.
>>
>>58561027
I have my 668B's layered with 3 filters on each cup. The original pair that came with the 668B's, the ones I kept from my dead 681's and the extra thin ones that came with the Cosmos pads. It brings the bass up a bit while taming the highs at the slight cost of soundstage.
>>
I want to get some gucci headphones as gift to my gf. What should I choose?

No beats
Wireless preferred but not a necessity.
Max budget $1500

Thinking about some Beoplay H8
>>
>>58561111
Not bad choice but personally wouldn't put in more than $200 on headphones where I don't know how the person is going to treat it and not an audiophile and won't know the difference.
>>
>>58561145
Clearly it isn't about the sound aspect here. Calm your autism.
>>
>>58561157
I literally started saying that it wasn't a bad choice before putting my personal opinion but here you are.
>>
>>58561111
Why wireless though? That's something pretty impractical overall, especially for normies that will forget to charge them. Not to mention the degraded sound quality.

I assume they're going to be for outdoor use mainly? Then get the over-ear Momentum, those are nicely built and look classy instead of autistic, on-ear stuff is usually uncomfortable after a short while and leaks/has bad isolation.
>>
Sennheiser HD 600 is going for $299 new on Amazon right now. Is this the best price I could hope for? I haven't been following it for long, and used ones aren't much cheaper at all.

I plugged them to my motherboard Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, which has an 2V amplifier, and it sounds pretty good compared to my old Sennheiser HD 465. Is integrated sound card really that good nowadays or should i still think about buying a amplifier to get better sound?
>>
>>58561792
I also have one of those fancy new mobos with a good audio chip and built in amp. It sounds alright but it doesn't really come close to my Essence STX, and I assume any good external amp+dac combo.
>>
Help! How do I remove the static(?) noise that comes from the headphones when plugged in?
>>
>>58561958

>>
>>58561312
>>58561322
>>58561327
I know I could wait around for another 6XX drop, but they're just a "limited edition" model of the HD 650, and it would probably be months before I could finally get my hands on one. Even then, they're most likely just going to sell out in less than an hour like they did last time.

From the reviews I've seen, the HD 650 doesn't seem to be an "upgrade" over the 600 in any way to warrant that higher price tag. It just has a different, warmer sound signature. I'll probably end up ordering an HD 600 since it's at a decent price, I'm just trying to talk myself into it since I'll need to pick up an amp+DAC along with it

Looking at it, that seems plausible, especially if you have a large head or wear them low on your head. I barely have the elastic elastic extended.
It is a really nice system though. You don't need to adjust them like you do other headphones, the elastic automatically adjust to your head, it feels fantastic. Time will tell if it lasts.

the whole point of the k712 is to fix the problems with the k702.
they improved the bass, smoothed the mids, added some warmth and timber and reduced the soundstage back to something natural.
I don't think you will find a single online source stating that the k702 are better, or even close to as good.

You're talking about the input impedance, which doesn't really affect sound quality or characteristics. That number is there to tell you what type of equipment you'd need to drive the headphones properly. In both cases, you should use an amplifier, but for the DT990, you should have a more powerful amplifier as the input impedance is quite high. Headphones with high input impedance are designed for studios where the headphones stay in one place and are attached to powerful studio equipment. It's generally preferable to get headphones with lower impedance for use with a smartphone or PMP, unless you want to carry a mobile amplifier.

Not him but if you already have a device that capable for driving headphones, you might as well get the high impedance version for more comfortable volume adjustments. This, assuming you do not want to move them around and plug them into less powerful headphone outputs. There's no sound quality improvement or difference, just lower sensitivity.

I've considered making ceramic stands of the nonhorrifying verity. clay is about the cheapest material you can use even after the cost of firing. The colorants used can be pricey though but still cheaper than fine wood.

The problem is that ceramics is too heavy to ship profitably and is too coarse and headphone people are finicky about the potental of scratching the wood, leather or pleather that their pads are made from.

You cart matters more than nearly anything else. Most turntables require a ground and a phono signal isn't like a normal signal from lets say a tape player, cd player or anything like that. You'll need a phono prestage before you send it to your o2.

Nearly any preamp made in the 80 will suit your needs. I personally recommend Yamaha preamps

>>
>>58566802
seriously the cart is the entire thing on the sound side. The rest is just wires going from the cart to the left/right rca outs. The other part is the drive. As long as the table doesn't wobble and provides an adjustable and consistent speed and the needle doesn't skate then you're good to go.

Total amp/dac pleb here; does the Schiit Fulla 2 function in the same way as the original Fulla, in that it's simply USB cord from your computer to the amp, then plug your headphones in? Or does it need some other toomfoolery, external DAC, etc.

Trying to decide whether I should get the original Fulla or Fulla 2. The Fulla seems smaller and more convenient but I'm willing to go for the bigger more powerful amp if it still only needs to be plugged into a USB port to work.

Who else here fell for the Sennheiser HD5*8 meme and regrets it? Coming from Monoprice 8323s whose headband is breaking. Listening to these pieces of shit (the Senns) is a complete snoozefest. Yes they do sound more accurate and refined and the mids are definitely better, but none of that matters because listening to music through these is incredibly boring. I tried hard to convince myself I like the sound better but I just can't. Probably going to return them to Best Buy and duct tape or Gorilla Glue the Monoprices. Headphones suck and are a compromise compared to speakers anyway so why waste $80 on something that sucks even more.

Also, the velour is slightly itchy. Every time I switched back to the Monoprices it was relief - the only thing the Senns get better is they put zero pressure on my ears because they don't touch them at all.
>>
>>58570299
To add to this, I like flat and accurate. My monitors are flat and accurate and listening to them is a fantastic experience. These Senns make it sound like I'm listening to music with a piece of sound absorbing foam right in front of the speaker, absorbing the energy. Just awful. I am so glad I didn't get the HD598s which are double the price and allegedly sound the same except with even less low end.

I do hate headphones, but at least the Monoprice sound somewhat interesting to listen to. They still suck compared to my monitors, but they at least don't make the music super boring. The Senns just suck all the life out of it. These sound like they might be great for classical or vocal-heavy listening, but other than that I just don't get the hype.

Part of it could be I like to listen at low volumes to prevent my ears from hurting and also to preserve my hearing. But I played them at similar volumes to what I play my Monoprice at.

My only previous headset was Steelseries siberia v2. What's a good headphone I can get for $50? I already have a modmic as well.

Velour pads can be a meme but good ones aren't, those look like they could get some HM5 pads, preferably u-angled because AFAIK those look like they already have angled drivers.

What microphone should I get for around 20-30$? I want something that can just sit on my desk, so I don't have to clip anything on. I will only be using it for voice chat so i don't need anything too fancy

Superlux HD 668B/Samson SR850, Superlux HD 669/Samson SR950, Takstar HI2050, Superlux HD 681.
Superlux headphones will need new pads as the stock pads are absolutely awful amd uncomfortable.

Phone, laptop, desktop

IEM

>Comfort level
would be nice if I could lie down with them in. Wrap-around-the-ear would also be nice

>Sound signature
the bassy or warm side would be nice. I listen to mostly hiphop

For the most part I want some super durable IEMs. I abuse mine like a motherfucker.

Get MA900 if you can find them for that price.
