My dream home would be a mostly subterainian dome house surrounded in a mu-metal / copper mesh faraday cage and has solar panels within that cage that can still get enough light to power the thing. All internet/data going in and out would be optical. This protects me from EMPs from solar flares/nuclear war which really what I want in a home. That and a server room and an armory room.

I mean it's literally proven to be true, those people whine and bitch about how their expensive shit isn't the absolute most expensive shit or how the expensive things they do weren't perfect. They can't value anything because most of the things you see as valuable but unobtainable actually aren't, grow the fuck up and make yourself important in your own world regardless of financial station. a bj from Taylor Swift will just be a bj, it's not magical just like a 200 million dollar house is just a place to sleep shit and eat in. garrish. bordering on grotesque.

The chinese government keeps trying to build cities to put the peasants in so that they can start being productive members of society but none of them want to leave their village so there are just a bunch of completely uninhabited cities in china.

They try different styles to see if anything will convince them to move, but nothing ever does.

To give you perspective, imagine China is the US, exact same level of working citizens & whatnot, but then there is just a billion extra country bumpkins living in tiny villages in the middle of the wilderness fucking up the countryside.

You can go do that in china basically for free.
>>
>>58554250
Has nothing to do with the bumpkins not wanting to live there. It has to do with the real estate legislation and the intention for their land to be bought by the government.

There was a video of two guys cycling through a chinese ghost city and near the end the pause in a clearing with the current ghost city behind them and a new ghost city being erected in view in the other direction.

It has something to do with property getting valued based on how many floors it has and almost nothing to do with demand.

They didn't say anything about why the demand is still there. They just said it is still there. If it's under chinese decree, then obviously that's that and it's not confusing in the slightest. They hinted at what the impetus for all the construction is when they talked about the farm houses.

>>
>>58555389
Wow, I guess it would require a unique combination of wealthy, frivolous, and retarded to buy all this in a single package for the sole reason of showing off.

I mean, unless some billionaire actually likes (and wants to own) each of these things, what will happen is that they'll buy the whole package wasting tens of millions in things that they'll never use and likely forget about in a month, and the only person who will benefit from them is the seller who can now add even more of a markup for each or the house's "features".

Completely ridiculous considering that for that amount you could build a far better home to your liking, and fill it with stuff that YOU like and cars that YOU chose, instead of those that someone else chose for you.

>The chinese government keeps trying to build cities to put the peasants in

That's only half true.

A lot of the impetus of the ghost cities is greed on the part of real-estate developers, who are often party officials or in bed with them. And they do some dodgy shit to get investors in as well.

It's really a kind of get rich scheme with a bit of a pyramid scheme thrown in too.

>>58554324
>There was a video of two guys cycling through a chinese ghost city
I've done that. There's a 'ghost city' a few hours from where I live in China.
Pic related.

It's not really deserted, it's just under-occupied. It has about 15% occupancy at the moment and the government is doing various stimulus stuff to attract people. Most government services have moved from an older nearby city to there, some of the good schools have relocated there etc. It has good infrastructure so it's quite nice to live in.

>>58554328
>I don't want to have to learn some obscure useless village dialect
Everyone under the age of 60 speaks standard mandarin or close enough.

>>58554351
>There's basically nothing inside those ghost city apartments by the way. No carpeting or air flow or anything
That's because Chinese apartments are all sold undecorated. The new owners then get an interior designer to finish the inside to their tastes. One of my (Chinese) buddies was a construction foreman on the apartment complexes going up in that ghost city above, he bought an apartment in one of the buildings at a trade discount and did the finishing himself, posting lots of pics. It's just bare concrete and pipes initially and you go out to housing supply markets and pick out tiles, toilets, light switches etc then the finishers install it all.

That and a few other issues. Deserts kind of expand anyway but yeah, Mao-era agriculture is largely to blame for there being one desert up there instead of two and it's gradually advancing on Ningxia which is going to be in trouble for that and other reasons.

Most people here are desensitised to how ugly Fed Square is.
I think acmi and the art gallery are neat, though.

>Pay that much just to live near a massive city with horrendous air quality.
Yeah no.
I've now gone through quite a few of these videos and none of those buildings look like a place you'd want to live in.
Maybe places to party in, but not exactly livable.
They're all designed as fuckhuge empty spaces, with couple of different rooms thrown here and there.
Which seems to be some form of universal design for rich people houses.
I actually had an ultra rich friend who used to live in a place like this and the house felt uncomfy as fuck.
Large empty spaces which echo like a motherfucker and which you can't really even decorate properly due to their immense size.
I'd much rather live in a lot smaller and comfier place like pic related.

I'd rather live here, with an adjacent workshop building and a large garden and greenhouse
Maybe a few comfy heated log cabins for guests

There was a very long running and very popular show called Seinfeld. Anons are mocking you because it was pretty unavoidable in its time.

It was sort of a funnier, smarter and older version of Friends. It was also pretty jewish so /pol/tards aren't going to like it much. It was basically about New York jews complaining about shit that happened each day.

You didn't read the thread. The shit never belonged to an owner, they're there as 'art'.

I'm pretty sure that this was set up by the same 'designer' who did Notch's house. That one had a couple of exotic guitars in it.

If you bought it, you'd throw half that stuff in a gallery to sell.

I'm kinda glad I grew up without much, I imagine the kind of people who live like this are actually miserable

>I hate my fucking life

This is why I don't watch 'lifestyle' programs or "10 hotels you will never be able to stay in" etc.

It's just building envy which makes you realise that there's a fuckload of things that you can literally never do in your life no matter how hard you try.

Also, it really is far too much to actually need so building the envy for it is a really bad idea and you're just fucking yourself by wanting it in the first place.

>>58553879
>and that model?
If you can afford the house, you can afford her. In fact you could hire an Estonian hooker as a live-in concubine for a lot less than that house goes for.

>Could be someone from the finance sector, but that culture doesn't strike me as so gaudy
Some of them are pretty crass, it depends on how new the money is and how snobbish they want to be. Trump is finance sector and it probably wouldn't be gaudy enough for him. OTOH: I lived with an investment banker for a while and he'd hate it, he was into suits by obscure designers you'd never heard of and 'refined elegance' in everything.

>>58553768
>looks like Notch's home
>>58553967
>Notch is a poorfag and his house only costs $70m
I'm pretty sure that this was designed by the same guy that did Notch's home and with the same idea. Build a ridiculous house, load it with ridiculous shit and sell it to someone very rich.

The entire house and contents is a package for people who want an instant lifestyle.

>Woman gets out of helicopter
>There is no pilot in helicopter

House is neat but gaudy. Notch is behaving exactly like you would expect new money to behave. People make fun of him behind his back constantly. It's kind of sad, really.

When I imagine a 250m house.
I'm thinking of the lot that is connected to the ocean, and the Pebble beach golf course.
From there, build up a medieval era house, a small boat dock if possible. And a nice overgrown garden.

The location alone on that is the main value

Hey, if I made $2b, I'd buy a big fancy house and throw a huge party too.

Do people really make fun behind his back? I haven't heard anything about it.
