The 1080p quality video has a higher bit depth, so sometimes youtubers will hide bitcoin miners in the extra bit space that will automatically activate upon Ajax processing of the server request. Youtube hasn't patched this because it is an exploit of the keyframe algorithm of the HTML5 codec. Though, big name youtubers don't do this because they would get called out and probably given red rep.

I always watch jewtube in 320p.

why? it's an mp4. it downloads nearly instantaneously and it is decoded by my hardware which means it doesn't waste my battery. i also never watch YT full screen but as a small picture-in-picture video so there's no point in more resolution.

as for 720p, 1080p or 4k (LMAO) and vp9 codec, fuck that shit.
