Why in 2017 do electric shavers still suck?

Self driving cars arent far away yet theyve not figured this out.
>>
Please elaborate, I've never used one.
>>
>>58511987

I assume he means that they aren't good for much other than trimming stubble and need to be used every single day if you're going to use them at all. If you're going to go with an electric razor you'll pretty much need both a razor and a groomer whereas a straight razor can tackle just about anything and a safety razor can handle more punishment than an electric razor.
>>
Just use a safety razor
>>
>>58511987
>You have to go over area a few times.
>Sometimes hard to get in grooves around your mouth and nose
>Easily get mad razor burn
>Have to use them daily as they struggle when your hairs over 1mm
>>
they figured it out ages ago, its called a wet shave with a safety razor

like $10 for enough blades to last you a year and no charging

Because non-faggots use razors

It's like using an electric toothbrush over a normal one

You just end up paying more money for a worse result
>>
>>58513696
Electric toothbrushes are a godsend for your gums. Brushing your gums normally can fuck them up pretty good.
>>
>>58511975

i trimmed my beard with one literally 4 minutes ago and it looks perfect. what the fuck are you talking about? if you have a 2 meter beard, you might need other methods to take care of it, mr. stallman
>>
>>58513696
>electric toothbrush
>worse result

kys
>>
>>58511975
It depends. Most do except the god-tier series from Braun (the ones with the self-cleaning base). They work good with longer facial hair since they have a groomer and a razor depending how you flip the device. Maintenance is basically non existant (you just replace the cleaning solution every 2-3 weeks). The blades last years. But the price is damn steep for something like this (around 300$).
The triple head razors are a meme anyway. Glorious straight razor head masterrace!
>>
I have a phillips 7100 body groom. the actual shaving side sucks and does nothing but pinch you. Fuck mines breaking after not a ton of usage, just refuses to charge.

My 5100 hair/beard trimmer works nice tho.
>>
>>58511975
grow some tits and use a knife
>>
>>58513696
i am a faggot and use a razor
>>
>>58514621
Knife fag here
The Kershaw 3/4 Ton has the generally shitty 8Cr13MoV chink steel- BUT Kershaw knows how to heat treat that shit /perfectly/. Coupled with that hollowe ground, if you know your way around whet stones and strops it makes a great straight razor, very tactile, you can hear each hair pop right off. I've used 1095 Cro-Van for shaving and the Kershaw 8Cr13MoV is still a superior shave, its baffling to say the least.

>He fell for the manual razor meme
>His razor doesn't contour to his face

>His blade doesn't spin at high RPM so it has to be super sharp to actually cut
>He has to buy new blades every week
>His shaver doesn't have an OLED display
>>
>>58511975
I use an electric razor everyday because I have to have a fresh shave for work. It looks like I used a razor and I don't get bumps or razor burn now. Don't buy the cheap ones, get a good one. Works best after a hot shower.
>>
>>58511975
I like my low budget Philips shaver that looks like the one on the left side on pic related. It's old as fuck but still works well and does a pretty good job.
>>
>>58515147
> He has to buy new blades every week
And yet it's still much cheaper than using a Philips electronic shaver 'cause no retardedly expensive cartridges are involved.

Also, try every year or less since you just buy 100-packs for DE-blades, and nothing stops you from getting multiple at ~$10 a pack.

> He has to buy a separate trimmer
Not really, why? Just clean shave.

Seriously, I made the switch like 5 years ago and never looked back.

And I've been using the same pack of blades I bought for under $25 for like 2 years.

Thank God for this thread.

This is my grooming gear. Trimmer/Shaver on the left is new, it's my first electric razor in a long time. Actually works better than the Merkur DE and Feather blades as far as irritation goes. Still kinda sucks though, as it is obviously not a full-time razor.

Considering getting a 5 Star or Bump Free from Wahl. I need to work to eat, and need to wear a respirator at work to keep living, so shaving is a must.

Guys, I've tried almost everything, but I still get rashes and red spots after I shave.

Why have I been bestowed with this foul curse and how do I undo it?

Please guys, I'm desperate.

It's a slippery slope once you get in. But if you limit yourself yeah it's cheaper.
Also brush with soap >>>>>>>>> canned shit.
>>
>>58516419
$10 for a decent bare minimum set, or probably cheaper in your local store.

Not any more than using a shitty cartridge razor. Plus this way you don't have to wash off your hands like you would after applying shaving cream from a can.

Razors are boring
Where is my technological advancement in clippers? I cut my hair once a week in the fall semester and haven't paid for a haircut since 2015
>>
>>58515898
why? i have the series 7 and dont think its doing thinks much better

there the best anyway, so if you dont want to spend on series 9 get the 7 its as good imo

>>
>>58511975

have a norelco rotary

it does just fine

the only people who buy into the safety razor meme seem to be narcissistic millennial hipsters, the destitute working poor, and NEETs who don't value their time

What's a good beard trimmer with a lithium ion battery?
>>
>>58515802
>he uses feather blades

Nigger I can't believe you fell for the meme that the 'totally most aggressive sharp blade' is automatically right for you. Them shits fuck me up but the astra platinum is great and saves me having to dry the blade too. You need to try a bunch of blades and see what works for you.
>>
Can someone recommend some body hair trimmers? Please.
>>
>>58512020

This is so fucking stupid, your hair grows you dingus, and if you work in an office with standards you'll need to shave once a day even if you use a safety razor, stubble does not look professional especially on you people
>>
>>58517609
>especially on you people
What did he mean by this?
>>
Wrong board

>>>/fa/
>>
I'd much rather use disposables than anything. Maybe you have a steadier hand than me but I cannot shave with safety razors without cutting my face open. People have recommended ordering better blades in the past but after all that hassle its barely worth the effort.

how do they not work? i've been trimming with one for years

OP probably doesnt even grow a full beard
>>
>>58517570
Don't get the cheap Remington on Amazon, or any other one that doesn't have lithium ion batteries. Otherwise every time you want to use it the battery will be dead. I think I'm going to just buy a wired wahl one.

If you use anything other than a safety razor, shavette, or straight razor you're a retard.
>>
>>58517288
because it takes forever and all that water soap and foam stuff
>>
>>58516419
You can buy a pack of 100 blades for less than $10. That's 100 shaves for less than ten bucks, do the math.
>>
>>58516561
>>58516595
>>58516622
It's considerably more time consuming than using a shitty disposable razor, dunno what those shills are on about. I used to use shaving soap + a safety razor and it would take five minutes to shave, maybe more. It's a waste of fucking time unless you have some skin problem that requires you to use one.
>>
>>58518336
It takes me three
>>
>>58516561
At first because you try not to cut yourself and get experience , but after few weeks it's very quick as safety razor cuts much faster I find with electric ones you spend more time doing circles to get a close shave where with safety razor it's just one top to bottom motion . A lot depends what razor you use
