Wasnt expexting a sleeper
But thats still awesome
Was it an AT case?
>>58485661
Nice Chieftec Dragon there.
>>58491299
Gotta love sleepers.
I had a small Aptiva before, lovely non-killable cases.
The tiny Dell currently runs Win10 Enterprise and the non-sliding one needs a HDD so I can make use of the Quadro FX4500 I put in it.
the right most Dell that slides open is a slow Pentium 3 and I haven't done much to it, though it was meant to be a Voodoo 2 SLi rig but now I'm thinking of putting my Voodoos in the middle one with the Quadro in it and dualboot Win98SE and Win10 Enterprise as well.
Don't feel like typing out all the specs but if you want some info just tell.
>>58491299
And the little guy is a bone stock HP DC7600 that I removed WinXP and threw Lubuntu onto since it seems to run better. Getting a PentiumD in the mail to upgrade the CPU soon. Then plan on using it basically just for web browsing/general basic computing shit.
>also, what do you do with them?
Right now not a whole lot, while all but 1 of those have an OS on it, I'm at a loss for what to do.
The big one is my main (in the background under my desk) PC for gaymen and general stuff. Win 10 nothing special
The first build (most left PC) is Win 7 and it runs a TF2 Prophunt dedicated server when required (usually at LAN parties) and also can play most emulators smoothly enough. (Goes up to Gamecube) that was the main intention as an emulator PC.
The other black one with the Z on the front is a hodge podge of shit basically just being stored for the time being. No OS but it does POST.
The Aptiva is a sleeper/compact LAN party build that I can bring around without worrying too much about lugging my massive main PC around or damaging it.
Then the HP I explained already.
I'm working on a PC for mom right now, restoring her old one with an Intel DQ57TM and an SSD, then loading vanilla Ubuntu on it. Don't feel like paying for a Windows license and Linux will do 99% of what she does on a normal basis much more safely and reliably, or so I hear. If she wants to pay for a Windows license I'll install it but I feel like she'll be fine on Ubuntu. gotta find that old HDD so she can get the files off of it.
>>58491335
Nope, it was MicroATX from the factory, that's why I picked it, so that if I ever wanted to, I could return all the original components into it.
When I was building, I took out all the original shit and hooked it up and it booted into '98 with no problems other than "your time is wrong and XYZ hardware is not plugged in anymore (since I didn't have several of the expansion cards plugged in) but other than that it booted up no problem.
>>58491373
Beautiful machines. Can I see the guts on the green one and the one to the right of the green one? These early gaming PCs give me a huge hard on. I was too young to get into it way early, I started in like 07 with a laptop, not building till around 08 so I missed the gorgeous early builds that were so goddamn awesome.
>>58491373
>>58491416
well hell, actually also the one to the left hand side, the big guy.
ARGH I love old PCs like this. Like OG gaming rigs.
gonna go commit sudoku for using "OG" in a sentence
>>58491416
>>58491441
The big one is a Q9300+GTX460 768MB+4GB DDR2 1066MHz with some spare 200GB and 400GB drives and another X-Fi Platinum CE with the X-Fi front I lent to my sister for a couple of years since I feel more satisfaction when my old stuff is being used, and I brought it home for some service since the PSU blew (I've never blown one in all these 24 years I've built computers myself though, luckily) so it's having one in just to see if nothing else died with the old PSU.
The little one is a case I took from my step brother since he was gonna upgrade to a PC I built him and I took his old for some dissecting and inspecting.
The idea is to use this Apevia PSU that looks so gnarly and turn it into a stereotypical "gamer" PC even though it's just a Pentium 3 with only 1.5GHz.
One of the computers I don't have at home is the one I made in on the release week of the Q6600 B3, that have 4GB DDR and 7800GT that is still being used by my 72 year old stepdad that I occasionally service.
>>58491645
The granddady PC around 2005.
The big black one before in it's prime years,
that at the time felt like tower of Babylon.
Reason why I use two PSU was because one didn't like all those drives while running the 8800GTX for some reason.
>>58491645
>>58491817
Fuuuuck those are sick. That fucking UV reactive PSU though. This makes me rock hard. Coolest PSU I have is a chromed 450W with a blue side window.
These are the exact types of machines I love. Perfect. Everything about them is badass. Thanks for sharing.
>>58491974
Our pleasure then, because just getting a response that my old PCs I like to live on are nice, makes me happy.
One PC I truly miss though is my old IBM R40 2682CAG.

Fuck it, while I'm here, here's some of my old boxen recently restored. These sat under my parents place for 17 years, I recovered them a few months ago and they both still booted. Plenty of rust on the cases but a sand and repaint sorted that out. This was my first PC after years of amigafaggotry. There were still Turbo Pascal assignments on it from my year 10 programming class.
>>58497895
This came to me as a 386, but I found a Pentium on the side of the road which appeared to have had the shit beaten out of it with a hammer, and I migrated its guts, replacing the 486 as my primary machine. Before that I had 2 pentium I systems. Sometimes my brother and I would connect em both on a small desk, each with a 15" crt, and play Red Alert or Duke Nukem against each other. Good times.

Commercials, advertisements, all sorts of shit had lots of gradients.
Like the "Coming soon, to own on DVD and Video!" thing really sums up my early childhood to me.
anyway, following up on two more things
bought the HP Compaq DC7700 Ultra Slim
2$ shipping because its like 30 miles from where i live, which is nice, it looks neat inside and takes the parts i already bought for the previous HP RP5700 that never showed up, including a new 90mm fan, two 80mm fans, more pc2-5300 ram, and the HD 3450
Also the R30, found out why XP was bluescreening on install, the disc is fucked up. There was fucking sand in the disk drive, not even kidding, a few grains of sand, ruined the disk but not bad enough that it outright failed, it took a few tries before it finally shit the bed
at least i still have the other hard drive with windows 2k on it, but id like to use the new one
if only i could figure out how to get a fucking usb stick to boot from on the thing
Amiga floppies I found a few years ago on the street
Asking for OC on old screenshots and hardware is a paradox, as they will always stay the same. You can only take pictures from so many angles so after enough time there wouldn't be any more OC.

It wasnt much
But those cd burners, copies of shit were being made all day

>>58499711
It was in the early 2000s for me I think, I remember we still had a pretty damn outdated 233MHz PC when my dad bought a HP 4x CD writer. That thing was slow but being able to write CDs was absolutely amazing. I used to get CDs with .avi movies, I could copy them but couldn't play them since the PC was too slow. Got an upgrade to an Athlon XP 2000+ in 2003, that's when the fun really started with new games/movies and kinda peaked around the mid 2000s I believe. By 2008 it had mostly died down around here since fast and cheap internet connections started becoming widespread and the CD trading was replaced by DC++ at first and torrents later.

Yeah, I did some research, I have a C2D laying around I tried to use but when I swapped it in I instantly got a thermal error, did some googling and while, yes it's on the same socket, and part of a supported INTEL chipset, HP was retarded and basically gimped their BIOS to not support the C2D therefore making the Pentium D 945 the best chip you can plop into it. Or a 950 if you want virtualization (ha) so I went for the 945 since it was faster. It has a PCIE slot but the riser plugs into the AGP??? And I don't want to run an AMD card on a 200W PSU so I'm just sticking to the onboard VGA.

>>58502354
desu probably, I scanned the old harddrive with diskdigger and didn't really find anything though except for cached shit from chrome with pictures of girls kissing each other and maybe a few conventionally attractive women. also a few men but meh shes openly pan so I guess it makes sense
>>58502373
I'm not OP, I'm just a fan of old ass tech that's posted a fuckload of pics in this thread.
>>58502401
>also a few men but meh shes openly pan so I guess it makes sense
>shes not too bad
sorry to hear anon
>>58502401
>openly pan
I bet her browsing history was worse than any of us posting here. Truly degenerate, deliciously lewd.
>>58502420
I'm not complaining she's been very faithful for over 3 years now. I literally have no complaints about this woman. At least nothing legitimate. I do have shit like "doesn't take care of thinkpads" and "loses power brick to ASUS transformerbook that she handed down to me"
>>58502426
>i call her a filthy degenerate on a regular basis
>"yup"
>tfw she watches more chinese cartoons than I do
>tfw she actually uses her PC for gaymen more than I do mine
>tfw we built her a $1000 gaymen rig and I have a near $2700 shitposting machine
>>58502470
she sounds like a keeper anon. Would slap her tits for her transgressions on a regular basis though.

try, screen can be working, on t series there is protecting acryl on the lcd.
>>58502592
Pretty fuckin' neat how small that thing is, how many expansion slots does it have? Does it even run an AT board? Seems like getting all the required controller cards in that shit would be terrible.
>>58486397
damn musicmatch jukebox
>>58502938
it has AT 386 board with 3 slots, back then, on photo there is a laptop motherboard inside, and in 5.25 dloppy case it's 1TB hdd.
>>58503020
8.2 had a bug that allowed me to rip an entire CD into a single track. This came in very handy for compilation albums on my 3rd gen iPod. MP3 tracks normally fade in, and out. very shitty for 40+ track albums were the average song is 90 seconds or less.
>>58503179
That was a setting on your iPod. Either way you didn't need to take advantage of a bug in a program to have an album as a single track.
>>58503055
Oh.
>>58503231
No? that's how MP3s behave. If you take any MP3 track, and open it in an editor, and zoom into the start there is always like a 10th of a second of blank space. If you delete it, and save it, it comes back.
at least that's how it was back in 2004. Now I notice that MP3s dont have that pause between tracks, but earlier they did. and audacity, and sound forge confirmed that pause.
Hell, I even remember watching The Screen Savers and someone called in with that exact same problem, and Leon explained that's how MP3s work.
Correct me if I'm wrong
These ''Classic Hardware Threads'' are cancer, get the fuck off the board.

RIP in peace, anon
>>58503267
Ah yes. I briefly worked at a laptop repair facility, and we had proper reflow ovens, and all the BGA dies for nVidia
I fixed my BFG 6800 Ultra like this, and then I bought like around two dozen broken nVidia graphics card on eBay, fixed them, and sold them. Made an extra $2,000 that summer.
>>58503329
>waaah stop liking what I don't like
>>58503337
that's not a fix, this like a kiling stimulator, 90% jf video cards repaired that way die in 1-2 months.
>>58503267
>>58503337
Kek, when I was a kid, about a decade ago, I used to buy broken GPUs too and reflow them in my kitchen with a electric oven, buying broken ones off computer shops and trash collectors for a few bucks a piece, or just asking people for them, reflow them, if they worked, I resold them quickly, I used to do it for years
>>58503384
Depends, I have had laptop GPUs fixed that way, with a normal oven, that lasted years, but usually you're right, the solder is shit and will crumble again. But he's talking about actual reflow, with new solder and shit, it's a permanent fix.
>>58503329
you are threads are cancer

Aww, did nobody reply to your blogposts about your rig again? I'll give you a pity (You).
Try adding some anime to it next time or maybe a ThinkPad, those hipsters will jerk anyone off.

hngggg
Sold my old XT clone to a museum yesterday.
My old HP/Compaq Proliant ML350 server. 2 single core P4 based Xeons with hyperthreading, 8GB DDR2 ECC RAM, hot swappable SCSI drives in RAID. Just installed an Adaptec SATA RAID controller in it earlier
Old case mod I did, cut out the Dell logo and put clear plexiglass behind it with red LEDs
>>58503975
Holy shit, that's an awesome machine.
>>58504048
>Dude, you're getting a Dell
Well done
>>58504048
Should've mounted the inside of the D on the plexiglass instead of cutting it like you're carving a pumpkin
>>58495522
you were 20 years ahead of your time in RAM
>>58497435
That's fucking sick, bruh
>>58504359
Topkek, I had 16GB in 2010 already and that was my desktop and not even server.
>>58504194
Thanks, love having the server to play around with but it is LOUD. I don't do anything that stresses the CPUs that much so it never really goes full jumbo jet taking off but its loud enough to be annoying no matter where it is in my fairly small apartment. I need to see if I can replace the bigass rear fan with a quieter one
>>58503384
I fixed my 6800 7+ years ago it ran in my PC for another 3 years with 99% uptime, and its still good to this day.
Out of the dozens sold I never had anyone reach back to me about issues
>>58503723
>solder is shit and will crumble again
Thats why I did it correctly, and reapplied the solder on the GPU. We had all the proper BGA grid dies to do this. This wasn't amature hour.
