Considering pic realted + 1070 of some flavor for 1440p @ 144hz. Are TN panels really as bad as people make it out to be?

My target goal is 100-120FPS in games like Overwatch and at least 75 or so in Witcher 3. This will be paired with a 6600K currently overclocked at an easy 4.5GHz which hopefully should handle what will be thrown at it.

Would this be a worthwhile investment, or am I better off waiting down the road for things like Vega and going down the AMD/Freesync rabbit hole?
>>
Was also thinking of a 1080. Looking over benchmarks makes it look not as promising.
>>
For gaming you need ULMB, not gsync or freesync.

Also, TN is dogshit for anything else.

I would wait until a 4k 144Hz monitor exists

4K is more than I'm comfortable spending on, and it doesn't look that much better to me.

No. Unless you're viewing it from an extreme angle, they're perfectly fine. Don't fall for shills and marketing bullshit that try to sell you some expensive shit. TN is great.

I have an IPS and TN panel and I can't even tell the difference most of the time. IPS is extremely overrated and overpriced.

This will be my third monitor and in the center, so viewing at an angle likely won't be a problem.
>>
>>58475447
def go for TN then! they're cheaper and have much higher refresh rates.
>>
>>58475447
Like with all LCDs you already get issues even if you watch from the absolute center.
>>
my 1070 powers my 1440p 144hz display nicely, all maxed out ranging from 60fps in witcher to 144fps in doom and war thunder, generally staying near 90fps in most games, I have gsync though which makes 90fps fine (I use ULMB and cap to 120hz or 60hz more than I use gsync though)
My PG278Q is TN but 8bit color so it looks great and the viewing angles are not nearly as bad as I expected
>>
I have this monitor! Get it.
>>
>>58475515
What should I pair it with? Is a 1080 Founders Edition overkill or just the right card at this level?
>>
>>58475523
1070 is fine. 170fps epic settings if I leave the fps uncapped
>>
>>58475523
1070 overclocked matches 1080 founders edition

10bit color

I have three of these, they are *gorgeous*
