In the uni I'm going to, practically all STEM professors come from some 2nd world/3rd world country.
Most natural science departments are taken over by Chinks, math department by South Americans/Eastern Europeans, and CS department by pajeets.
They tend to barely speak any English and are usually easy As, but these gooks that recently started teaching in my CS program are asking for long ass term papers that are at least twice as long as the longest term paper I've ever written for an English class, and seem to grade harshly on it despite the fact that they only utter nonsensical pseudo-English sentences.
Is it a general trend in the US to outsource STEM professors?
As the department chair in CS changed, most of the staff got replaced by foreign professors that barely speaks English.
Foreigners are easier to manage and retain.

In my experience, people who can't understand someone with a thick accent never had a solid grasp of the language themselves.

That's because those cultures value useful fields and not liberal arts "you can be anything" degrees. As for your term paper, it's to get you used to technical writing. Not that you'll do a ton in the field, but some places do make you document EVERYTHING.
