I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 with i3-5005u, GT 920M and 4GB ram. Would it worth an upgrade to 8GB RAM? It runs pretty shitty, the hard disk (5400rpm) being the major bottleneck but I won't invest in a SSD with this low tier configuration. Would I see an improvement with 8GB RAM? I was playing AoE 3 on LAN with a friend and the game started lagging really bad towards the end (I was the host), would ram solve this problem? Even exploring through windows 10 is laggy. Is an SSD even worth thinking about?

No. SSDs are a meme, don't buy one. 5400RPM is slow but more than enough. Upgrade to a 7200RPM laptop drive and you should be just fine. RAM can't be upgraded on that machine to 8GB anyway, it's a limit from the 920M voltage regulations.

It supports more than 4GB ram
>>
>>58471626
When will the SSDs are a meme meme end.
>>
>>58471886
Idk man I recommended a laptop with SSD for a friend and it fucking rocks
>>
>>58471595
get a cheap ssd instead
>>
>>58471626
>SSDs are a meme, don't buy one.
care to explain?
>>
8 GB of RAM would be a significant improvement and an SSD would be even better. Get both and you'll be blazing it up like Nelly in a Range Rover.
>>
>>58471595
Get a fucking SSD. Get 8GB of RAM. An SSD makes a PC so much snappier when loading things. HDDs have garbage random access capabilities compared to SSDs. You won't get better performance in games with an SSD, but youll be happy you got one.

I am constantly using above 4 GB of RAM personally, so 8GB at least for me is a necessity.

>>58471990
Yes but keep in mind it's a shitty i3-5005u. Even extracting stuff from archives is slower than my desktop PC with an athlon Ii X4 640.
>>
I put an SSD in a Thinkpad T60p with a Core Duo from 2007 and it made a huge difference. Get an SSD.

Also, AoE3 is pretty fucking old. You're probably experiencing network lag rather than an issue meeting the system requirements - I used to run that game on a Dell Inspiron laptop with a 1.4 GHz Celeron and 512 MB of RAM.

>>58471980
They are trolling, i've got an SSD, and loading time went from 30s to around 7s, and apps load much faster too. It's a best upgrade you can get for the price. Just don't store any valuable data on it without backing it up.
>>
>>58472121
Yeah you might be right
>>
>>58471595
You're retarded, congrats
>>58471626
5/10 bait, try harder
>>
You clearly need 64GB of RAM and a tape drive instead of the HDD
>>
>>58472089
>Even extracting stuff from archives is slower than my desktop
>5400rpm hdd

Gee I wonder why
>>
Get a ssd and use it in your new pc if/when you upgrade.
>>
>>58472268
Yeah I thought about that too. I think I'll get one.

They are trolling you. "Get an SSD" is the oldest troll in the book. They "appear" faster but really, it's not faster. They also won't last you more than a year, tops, and you WILL lose your data. Only correct thing here is to have backups. SSDs are also the #1 cause of network lag due to the way it writes to the disk using that i3 processor. You'll create a huge bottleneck for yourself and spend a bunch of cash in the process, for less storage. Don't fall for the SSD meme.
>>
>>58472885
Retard the network bottleneck it's from the fucking weak network not the SSD. And I have the wireless module from Intel not some shitty atheros. Or are you saying it's a shitty i3 that can't process data at the pace of an SSD? I'm confused how you can say SSDs are a meme.

>>58472885
Yea dude, I bought an SSD, and my i3 processor told me that it can't write to it in an efficient manner. I asked why, and it said "Oi vey do I have to explain everything? Schmuck!"

Then my Realtek Network Adapter was slow too.

Also I got cheerios stuck in the USB port when trying to implement big-oh notation.

Fucking lold

I'm still running a Plextor M5 Pro I bought in December of 2012 (as C: no less). Try again, dipshit.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
