Why are there no Power over Ethernet laptops?
Plz respond
U get very low current so it would take a long time to charge the capacitors plus the gauge of the wire won't support higher current or voltage

Thanks, that makes sense
Because ether net isn't available in places where even power isn't available. Lecture halls and airports are still lacking in ac oulets, installing etherent is a huge cost when budgets are already in wireless.
PoE provides 15.4 and 25.5W at 48VDC
It's simply not meant to provide power to laptops.
Now providing power for a network hub or switch is what it's designed for

That laptop uses more than 100W at some times.

my laptop uses ~10W when on battery, most of it is the WiFi.
A laptop could be made where 25W would be enough.
The WiFi could be disabled when not connected to ethernet, to save power.
It would be interesting to say the least.

I'm not saying it can't be done, i'm saying that's not what it was designed for, and if you have access to ethernet, you most likely have access to power.
This is only especially useful on really long cat6 runs or similar where you need to power switches and hubs without access to AC outlets.

why would you want this on a laptop? not saying that its a bad thing but i dont know why you would connect poe hardware to a laptop

Most new office buildings still get a socket next to the ethernet port, even though all routers use POE these days.
I don't think it would be that big a problem.
But it would be cool to have both as an option.
It is much cheaper than a dock and you have to buy a special laptop.
But it could work.

I suppose a laptop / thin client would be great for offices.
You don't need very powerful computers to create documents, input data and answer emails.
A laptop could switch between being on battery / wifi and being on ehternet and get power.
You would get a single cable to connect the laptop and work from there.
Obviously it will not be great for encoding video, but other things might be good.

POE is too inefficient to charge a laptop. But it is a good idea...
