How come pc towers aren't being built with bluray drives?
Because no one buys Blu-ray lol. If you want one put it in yourself

Welcome to digital age anon. Physical copies are dying as SSDs become better (faster loading/higher capacity for storage)
>>58446068
>Because no one buys Blu-ray
I sometimes buy Blu-Rays of independent films even tho I don't have a drive, after I downloaded the film on private trackers.
>>58446068
All the cases are custom now and you can't swap out a rom drive

Autism
Why would I want a video format that only plays in 1080p grandpa?
Who even buys discs anymore?

>>58446037

>>58446037
Because physical media is obsolete.

>go to American dell site
>offers hamburger or deep dish pizza drive
>go to UK dell site
>offers a bright-eyed servant chap with a stiff upper lip what to give my tallywhack a right good polish
>>58446128
The antec 900 doesn't have this problem.
>>58447544
Physical media still has it's place so long as all the digital media is still being compressed to shit. Once they can get "Here's a video file" right, I'll agree with you since physical media is definitely a pain in the ass.

But I want a desktop computer
With bluray

Guess its back to good ole MSY, where your warranty is only valid if you speak Chinese.

Maybe your given reason is right, in which case consumers are idiots.

What do you mean? I thought the cheapest, and lowest effort solutions were usually the best ones?
>people here don't use blu ray as inexpensive redundant cold storage

>Why would I want a video format that only plays in 1080p grandpa?
Enjoy your skinny jeans, kid.

Blu ray got ruined by DRM.
>>58446037
>friends gift me the blu Ray collection of Breaking Bad for birthday
>I don't have a blu ray drive
>check on the internet for a BR drive
>read-only BR drives cost something like 50 bucks
>read-write ones cost way more than that
Here's why.
>>58451169
>not owning a blu ray player
>can't afford spending $50 for a shitty blu ray drive
why even live
>>58446037
>physical media in 2017

How come laptop towers aren't being built with Iomega Zip drives?
>>58446037
Because they don't want people buying it, burning it, and then returning it like they did with DVDs before they became so cheap or easily torrentable that people just stopped.
>>58451169
I got my read and write for 48 USD.
this was about 1.5 years ago.
It's LG
>>58446139
>What is bitrate
Because native Blu-Ray playback is something that may never happen due to licenses and DRM and cucked shit like that.
DVD drives on PC caught on because Both Windows and Mac OS X could playback DVDs without any additional software.
Hell, I remember some DVDs including their own DVD playback software just for shits and giggles.
Blu-Rays haven't had that same luxury. Most BR playback software is $50-100 and pretty shitty to be honest. My 2011 Asus laptop had a Blu-Ray drive and the recommended software never ran properly in any way.
Then you have the modified VLC/MPC-HC methods. But they're extremely basic and out of date.
Personally, I still like having a Blu-Ray drive and using MakeMKV to make lossless backups of movies I own.
>>58452929
This but replace LG with Asus
>>58451169
I bought an asus one for 21$. its not fast but it werks.
>>58453005
>MakeMKV
What does it do? What can it do?
>>58446068
>>58446037
Every tower now comes with blu-ray drives, if your never see this is because you are looking all those "gaming towers" where replace drives with LEDs
>>58453055
Just rips Blu-Rays and DVDs (and even some HDDVDs) into an MKV format so it can contain whatever movie plus subtitles and audio tracks you want
http://www.makemkv.com/
>>58447591
People are tired of mkvs and streaming, they always look terrible in your newest Smart TV of 40 in, you see how internet push obsession with 4K for people return to internet media when every tower and console have blu-ray drives
>>58446037
You guys never watched a physical blu-ray movie?
I dont count rips of trackers.
