is a Samsung chromebook 3 , 11 inch a good platform to learn to code/hack on? i just got a new one for the low and like how small and portable it is.

If you install full Linux on it, its alright, albeit underpowered. With ChromeOS it is useless, except for quick ssh sessions.

if i removed ChromeOS would that help?

Definitely. You can probably get a used ThinkPad for a similar price and end up with a more powerful machine, though.

Have my Chromebook set up with Crouton, and I have been pretty happy with it.

It would be extremely useful

I was thinking about getting an Asus C740 Chromebook for the same reason.

they're fine
low ram and low storage, usually both are soldered on
their cpus, which work fine on chromeos, can struggle with full fledged operating systems
the battery life actually lives up to what is advertised
try for intel based ones if you want linux
They're shit. Seabios can't be installed on the firmware, only in the "legacy" section which just makes it annoying to actually boot into a linux distribution that isn't full of Google aids.
C720 was pretty much the last decent chromebook

It's actually what I use for my daily driver at uni. It's small, sturdy and has a good touchpad for the price. Also the battery. Get an SD card though. Also configuring linux to use the SD card is also a bit of a bitch.
>just to learn hacking
fuck off op

Thoughts on the C740?
