I am looking at a Moto X Pure 2nd gen 16GB for $135

Is that a good phone? Its gonna replace my finicky Nexus 5. Their specs look almost identical on paper. Is it an upgrade in anyway shape, or form?

My paycheck for december got gimped and I can't buy BQ Aquaris X5 Plus like I planned. Should I wait for the next paycheck or settle for another phone? BQ is the cheapest phone which fulfills almost all of my requirements that isn't a chink, so there is no going up.

I own the galaxy S7 already and really like it but my work decided that I need a company cellphone. They told me to pick a phone and even tell them where to buy it from. I have no clue I'll probably use it for phone calls more than anything but still need Web Access while travelling.
I'm in the US and I'm sure Verizon will be their carrier of choice here.

i got to try the axon 7 "mini" today and that seems to tick all the boxes unless you guys can bring up any points against it. maybe slightly concerned with the UI if anything.

Honor 8 was also nice, and I, myself, prefer it, but it would be about $370 with tax, and there's some scrolling issues?

I'm going to see if I can find a nearby store with a Moto G4 Play ($150 model). on paper that also seems like a good choice.

I'm open to other suggestions, but since I did already try out the axon 7 mini in person, i'm more willing to suggest something i've tried myself than going off someone else's opinion, unless i'm told an alternative is significantly better.

I've just read the lenovo p2 review linked in the OP, I was considering getting this phone, the only downsides being the bad camera and the lack of type C input.
Also it's quite expensive in my country, 280€ is the lowest I could find it

I got a Zuk Z2 for 280CAD including the import fees.

The downside is that in order to get the play store to work, I had to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, then flash the OS to Lineage OS. It works OK now, but it crashes every now and then and I can't record video. Hopefully a newer version will improve things.

It's an amazing phone in terms of specs, though. The only thing it's missing is an SD card slot, but given that it has 64gb of storage, I don't think I'll miss it, myself. The other criticism that I have of the phone is that it has a glass back which can shatter AND reduces friction on surfaces; when I put it on a table and try to scroll, I have to be very gentle, for example.

It has a Snapdragon 820, which means it will see more third party support than other phones. That's probably the only reason why it has a Lineage OS variant.

I've had the same Galaxy S2 since 2011. Original battery is still rockin'. The phone still works perfect, but Android 4.1.2 seems behind-the-times... can't even group text. I don't know if it's because of weak specs, but it hangs and is really slow when navigating google maps and loading web pages - ads seem to bog it down. I'm definitely NOT a heavy user. I ended up with an S7 Edge(AT&T, SM-G935A).

Already rooted it, but I'm not sure what I can do with it, because all the custom ROMs are for a different type or something? I've never really owned a smart phone before, what kinds of things can I do? I would like to at least remove the bloat from it, and try to make it have as long a battery life as possible(by killing off unnecessary background junk), but I'm not sure how to proceed. Guides for this particular phone seem dry. Also the Knox thing is obnoxious, because it makes me re-input the wifi password each time I reset. My battery also drains a lot more ever since I rooted, and I don't know why.

So I've found out that Eternal Team and HK Goldway of Aliexpress sells refurbished phones as brand new. This makes me think twice about buying more expensive stuff from aliexpress. But there is something severely wrong when I have to scroll all the time on a 5+ inch display to get stuff done, that I can do without scrolling on a 3.5 inch display.

Also, the whole UI is lacking consistency, both in between apps, apps and the OS and the phone OS and general accepted UI paradigms on about any other OS.

I'm talking about the Q10, it's running an all touch OS and has no toolbelt/cursor.
I only use the keyboard for text input, 100% of everything else I do is touch driven, with my big fingers and I never mistap anything.
The screen is 2 times as big on the android phone, yet I have half of the information on it as on the smaller blackberry, which I still can use perfectly fine as a touch device.

Lets say you get the regular 3/32, the Redmi Note 3 Pro is more or less the same sans for the camera (Huawei packages good cameras even on their cheapest phones, Xiaomi's are dogshit even on flagships), it does have a shitload of third party support though, stock android>ios ripoff EMUI and it comes with a much bigger battery, an extra 2 hours SoT, all for a mere 150 american dollars.

The G4 Play is pretty solid and has an sd slot, but is way, way weaker, i'd say get it if its just a stopgap.
