Cinnamon is the child of GNOME and KDE.
Modern features of GNOME with customizability of KDE.
Prove me wrong /g/.
By the way, that picture is out of the box Cinnamon.

Budgie is pretty good in my opinion
honestly cinnamon, budgie and even lxqt deserve more attention in my opinion
Cinnamon now supports vertical panels
Well, cinnamon is the only DE that crashes instantly at startup with driver errors in the logs. no other fancy DE does that for me. Seems like their optimization magic doesn't work on r600.
The old versions that do work are suffering from memory leaks out the ass so my impression of cinnamon is lower than anything else I have ever used.

How does it handle wacom tablet?
I prefer Plasma 5. Whatever tickles your nuggets, I guess.
GTK is cancer. They should have chosen the objectively better toolkit.

It's too late
>You NEETS rejoicing over this week's Linux distro finally accomplishing basic GUI things windows and mac accomplished in the mid 1990s
>but it's better because cinnagnunilinux supports a million things you barely grasp the meaning of and it's super minimalistic and hipster bro
Literal autists

0/10
>>58437898
it's never too late. they still aren't there yet, the calendar applet looks like dogshit and as you can see in my picture it's kinda confusing at first glance what is a hotlink on the panel and what is an active window
>>58437905
hey someone called Linux Mint hipster and minimilastic!
>>58437905
Excellent bait
>>58437846
Yeah, this right here. Only de I had to have a "restart desktop" button in my taskbar. Looks nice enough tho.
You all better install Solus with Budgie. NOW!
>>58437963
not really.
I think Cinnamon would be the best DE if it was stable. I like it more than that Unity shit. It does have issues though as was pointed out. I'm comfy on xfce still.
>>58437414
Nope, because budgie exists.
>>58438126
explain this kevin
>>58437414
Install XFCE
I didn't believe it was all that fast.
I was wrong.
Applications and GUIs have no weird artifacting like they did on cinnamon while resizing and VGA from my VMs is near lagless.
>>58438190
It's the compositor the DE uses that makes everything so laggy but it removes tearing, use them without it or xrender and it would be just as fast. This should be fixed with wayland, though.
>>58438237
>This should be fixed with wayland
2031 can't come fast enough
>>58437414
Still prefer i3
>>58437816
Let me know when it has a proper file picker.
>>58438054
This 2bh. Cinnamon crashes every now and then.
>>58438237
I'm about to reinstall mint. Should I go with MATE instead of cinnamon now, I heard it's faster and the compositor isn't a piece of shit unlike on cinnamon.
>>58439086
DEs with optional compositors are kwin, mate and xfce. All tiling wms should count too since you can use compton as a separate compositor for them. I don't know about unity though i think it uses compiz/beryl which should be on mate too..
>>58438158
There appears to be some sort of overflow causing the variable to loop back around to zero.
>>58438671
But how do I use i3 and still be able to use all the nice features a DE gives me, like actual working automount for removable drives?
>>58439789
By using a filemanager with a daemon or something like automount. Believe it or not but automounting was a thing before hal.
>>58438729
/thread
>>58439841
Any recommendations?
>>58437414
Pretty shallow comparison when nothing has shit on krunner
>>58439866
No, tiling in kwin is enough me. Just search for mount in your filemanager and pick something that sounds sensible for your use case.
>>58437882
Why is GTK cancer? Too hard to read?
>>58437623
This. Budgie has succeeded Gnome3 and Unity. Its ogre.
>>58439963
Is not, but KDE fan boys believe that repeating it a million time it makes it true.
