I got a extended battery for my iPod classic, pic related.
You can see the connection where I'm pointing with the screwdriver.
Problem is the cable is too short.
My question is if you can heat it up and bend it, to mount the battery the other way around.
tldr: can you bend/fold ribbon cables?

It clearly sounds better, but what about the intent of the author? Did he mean it to be said 'sudoo'?

Todd Miller, its creator, says sue doo. But I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way and it sounds stupid.

sounds like he needs to learn that a string of letters inside a word are often pronounced differently than when they're a standalone word.

I have this topology right here. It's supposed to be 2 different buildings. Here's the 'rules':

1. This is supposed to be a company that's split in 2 buildings. This company has 2 departments. The network from the 2 different departments must be kept separated (2 different subnets/VLANs).

2. Each department uses 1 third of the total available ports on each access layer switch. That means the 2 depts. share the same 6 access layers.

3. Each building should access the internet via its own modem

So how should I go about VLAN/subnetting these? Should I do just 1 VLAN per dept (2 VLANs total), with both buildings sharing VLANs, or should I do 1 VLAN per dept. AND building (4 VLANs)?

They often stay black when too cold. You could try leaving it always on, find a way to heat it, or get an expensive OLED display. Or just bring out a laptop when needed or get an OLED tablet. Or print your stuff. Black laserjet toner costs less than the $0.02 page it's printed on.

My iPod classic will randomly say "please connect to power" like it has a dead battery, then it'll shut off.
If I leave it alone for a few minutes then it on, it'll report it has a full battery and I can use it all day long with no problem. In a few days, it'll go through this process all over again.

Anything I can do to fix it?

What do you guys recommend about buying a new battery for a laptop?

Buy directly from the manufacturer that you got the laptop from (in this case Dell)?
Buy from a technology website like Newegg, TigerDirect, etc?
Buy from Amazon or another marketplace?

I don't want to get fucked and have a shitty battery. I use it for my business but I also don't want to spend $110 when I could potentially get it for $20 less.
>>
>>58439346
OEMs, especially Dell, will assfuck you by going direct. But if the difference is only $20 between a 3rd-party & an OEM, I'd pay for the OEM source because of its warranty.
>>

I have seen batteries elsewhere that are pretty cheap and are more than $20 less than Dell's, but the sites they are on are sketchy and I'm not exactly comfortable with it. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

i cant seem to be able to update the firmware on it, its a netgear C6300BD, i updated my ethernet driver, tried different dns servers,

could it be something wrong on my end, or is the modem just fucked.

>"I need to simulate 3 spreadsheets concurrently while plotting the data through an internal node.js interface"

All of those are "business work". Do you know whether you need more than 8 threads? There's more than one line of "i7s" after all.

Dont get so pedantic.

If it was for CAD or Rendering or whatever I would say so.

Its just general Business work.

Spreadsheets, Word, Youtube, Email.

Just generic business.

I have a 32 GB SanDisk flash drive. I want to be able to boot into Tails and Kali Linux (ideally both 32- and 64-bit Kali) from it, as well as having a large partition to act as a regular flash drive.

I formatted the drive into two FAT32 partitions - `persistence` and `multiboot` (`persistence` first so that I can use the drive as a regular flash drive on Windows), but using YUMI installs the OS' onto the first partition and renames that to `multiboot`.

I tried it with just one partition at first too, but shrinking the `multiboot` partition after running YUMI and creating a new FAT32 `persistence` partition through GParted caused `multiboot` to no longer work.

Is what I'm after even doable? Ideally, I would have about 2GB allocated to Tails, 4-8GB for Kali(s) and the remaining bulk of the drive as regular storage, accessible on both Windows and GNU/Linux systems.

I'm looking to buy a decent graphics card for my PC, but currently I have a Gateway DX4860-EF23P. I don't know much about PCI slots, but I don't want to open up my computer. How likely is it that this will be able to run a 1050?

Since there are no stupid questions threads on /v/, I figured I'd try here.

A friend of mine was showing me I THINK a game forum a while back, but I can't remember the goddamn name of it. All I remember from it was that it had concept art in the background, some character or feature on the left with a blue light above it. The full art piece has what I think was a character standing between 2 rock features on either side. I thought it was something from Zelda, but I can't find the image again.

White/gray forum background, square icons. I can't for the fucking life of me find it again.

you can get free subdomains (like yourname.mooo.com or yourname.jumpingcrabs.net) from afraid.org. Otherwise go to nic.(whatever tld you want) like nic.xyz if you want yourname.xyz, and they will tell you how to set it up. It will cost money. If you want dynamic dns, you might just tell them to point the nameservers to ns1.afraid.org and ns2.afraid.org and manage it through afraid. afraid.org will still do it for free but you'll have to pay nic.xyz or nic.moe or whoever you signed up with

Not sure of my reasoning at all and this may be gibberish, but I'll post it anyway:
I think the 2 subnet solution is impossible design.

Say you use the 2 subnet approach and a PC in department 1 connected to Switch0 wants to talk to a PC in department 1 connected to Switch3. How would Multilayer Switch0 (a router) know where to send the packet? It sees that the packet is destined for the same subnet it originates from, so does it go back to Switch0 / Switch1 / Switch2 which are all part of the same subnet, or to the default gateway? The router is a boundary of a subnet.

do not use your pc to charge it. use a wall adapter. the more generic the power supply is, the more likely it is to damage a usb port on your pc.

could be radio congestion. have you considered using a powerline adapter to bring the ethernet upstairs, or using a distributed solution like eero, google wifi, or ubuiquiti unifi?

I guess i will have to buy one anyway.

How are Gigabyte for (AMD) GPUs?

I'm looking to replace my quite old 6950 with either a 380 or 380x and while I've heard enough decent stuff about ASUS(the 380 I'm looking at) I really haven't personally looked into or heard anything positive or negative about Gigabyte(the 380x I'm looking at).

Before anyone asks, I'm going with the 380/380x instead of something from the 400 series because the former still have DVI-I which is something I need.
>>
>>58446659
grab this from amazon. http://a.co/2GXFBmq

good shit. will automatically adjust to the fastest speed the receiving device can charge at.

>>58446671
eh. they're okay. asus is marginally better. that said- why don't you consider grabbing something from the amd 9xx series lineup? used- they're pretty cheap.
>>
>>58446671
edit, meant to say nvidia 9xx lineup
>>
>>58446671
I would go with Sapphire unless there's a reason not to.
Gigabyte AMD cards can vary in quality.
I have the Sapphire 380X, which is generally agreed to be the top 380X model. It's super quiet, and never goes over 65'c unless I run furmark on it.

Is the Yakuza really a real thing? Or is it just a myth perpetuated in movies and stuff like the Mafia?
>>
>>58446761
Yes, there is mafia everywhere.

Yakuza families are not a big thing anymore.
They do ransom, dodgy contracts and scamming models to do rape JAV.
>>
>>58446761
Of course they exist. There's accurate historical records of their existence.
If they're still politically influential, I don't know, but they exist, no doubt about that.
>>
>>58446761
how is this tech related?

anyway the mafia is very real. they don't do a lot of public facing stuff anymore, but if you're in the restaurant, cleaner, bar, or even supermarket business you can guarantee your suppliers have some kind of ties to the mafia.

Never really been the biggest fan of Nvidia for whatever reason, but I wouldn't explicitly be against it though. Any input on those would be cool.

Used though, not sure how I feel about that. Not going to find anything local, and I'm not sure about how good of an idea going with something from ebay would go.

>>58446741
I sadly missed just about every time Sapphire's 380x were going for a good price, and now they seem to be sitting at ~$250 or so in most cases. Not sure why I didn't jump on those or MSI's offerings when they were repeatedly going on sale a few months back.

Newegg has the ASUS 380 4GB for $160 right now, and Amazon has the Gigabyte 380x for $164 via prime deal that I may be able to get my hands on.

On the topic of used, looking, there seem to be a few Amazon Warehouse deals on the Sapphire 380x right now for ~$180. Perhaps that would be a good way to go.

Really stupid question, but here goes:
What are libraries? For example when I install some software it sometimes install some libraries as a dependency (e.g. the opus library, the libressl library). A lot of software boast about using xlib, where x is anything. But what does that mean exactly, is it software as well or something else? Does it have anything to do with C libraries?

Context: I'm learning C. I know how to print stuff and control flow, now learning about pointers and data structures. I don't really understand what are libraries in C either, I was just wondering what they are and if they're related to the software libraries.

A library is just a bunch of functions stored in another place. I guess you're asking about what Linux and Mac calls shared objects (.so files), and Windows calls dynamically linked libraries (.dll files), which are libraries of functions that are made available to your program by the .so/.dll file.

In C you'd #include "whatever.h" and then tell the linker where to find whatever.lib (windows) or whatever.a (linux/mac) which tells it how to access the functions in the external dependency. Then at run-time, the thing that runs programs (Windows kernel or Linux dynamic linker) will search your system for whatever.dll and load that into the program's memory.

What this means to you as a programmer is that you can load a PNG file using libpng or a zip file using zlib's external libraries, making your program code and executables smaller because that functionality is loaded elsewhere. As a system administrator you can keep the libpng and zlib libraries up-to-date and free from security vulnerabilities without waiting for a new version of your shitty program and the hundreds like it on the system.

I was recently given a laptop and did a clean install of Windows 7. Most everything works fine, but whenever I do something with audio and haven't had audio play for a few minutes or longer, I get a clicking sound before it plays, or in cases like Youtube videos the sound doesn't play at all when the video starts and only plays if you drag the time to anywhere other than 0:00. Does this sound like a common problem with a common solution?
>>
>>58447837
I'd guess it's either your speakers powering up or shit left in your sound card driver output buffer being full of noise and pumped out. If the former it's a hardware issue and no way you can fix that. If the latter, driver update or messing with settings might fix it. There may be power management settings that will make it go away when the device is plugged in.
>>
>>58447877
>>58447837
Also, installing gentoo would fix this as you'd have control over both power management and device driver code.
>>
>>58447767
Tried rebooting? Possibly caused by keyboard state being fucked up. If that doesn't work, rule out hardware by testing an external keyboard. Rule out OS by booting into Linux live CD.
>>
>>58447767
Sounds like some function key being locked up, ctrl, alt, win, etc. I'd try tapping all of those once on both sides and see if it helps
>>
>>58447904
Tried rebooting, yeah; even reset my computer and purged all the files. Was considering trying Linux, so I may attempt that.
>>58447922
That didn't work, but the fun part is that my left alt key made the window close.
So, in conclusion: My hardware's fucked and there's an 0.01% chance Linux will fix it, which I'll try if it becomes a bigger annoyance.

hi anons, i have a game server on python, im currently passing it to ctypes cause slow

would it be faster? like, operating in linux instead of operating withing python?

Or am i just being retarded?
