My 8 year old laptop still "works" too, as does my 6 months old Winshit desktop but they all require maintenance you don't even notice because you're used to this shit and have tons of small problems because the OS just sucks. (Linux distrus are pretty much not an option in most professional fields, so let's just ignore that)

The point of Apples stuff is to not give you any headaches so long as you keep giving Apple more money. In this, Apple does better than every single windows product out there. The walled garden means everything is extensively tested.

Premium to normies doesn't mean best specs or best specs for the money, it means that the laptop JUST WERKS. If you go to an apple store, hand over your credit card, and replace your entire home with nothing but iStuff, likely nothing will go wrong. If you did the same thing, but with windows stuff, there is more of a chance something would go wrong, and setting everything up would likely take longer. Therein lies the appeal.

And there's no way to downgrade to a previous version because of Apple's completely retarded update model which makes old software obsolete ASAP. So now I'm running cracked Compressor 4.1.3 because of this shit, but at least it still works.

As for brand loyalty, it certainly plays a part but unlike with politics you can't establish it with talk alone, since you know, there is an actual product and if it turns out shit, and the next turns out shit, the brand loyalty will suffer, unless there are no alternatives.
