Is there much of a noticeable performance difference between i5 and i7 'U' processors?
>>
Significantly

In games, only for shitty optimized CPU-hogging titles. So about half of them. You can still do fine with an i5 if you're willing to take the time to mess with config files and the like.
>>
doesn't really matter
buy whatever is the most expensive. you haven't forgotten the six million, have you?

no, it is a meme to sell "high end" lap tops as being i7, so they are "better at multi-tasking"

linked wrong cpu. but here, you still get the point

Thought that might be the case.

Wait for ryzen

All i5 and i7 "U" CPUs are just overclocked i3s aimed at tricking normies into buying an overpriced piece of garbage dual core while making them think they're buying top of the line stuff.

>Overclocked
Not even, the 6500U is 600MHz slower than the 6100

Also, if you are in the market for a laptop make sure to look for the "HQ" or "HK" branded cpus rather than the "U" processors.
The hq and hk are true i5s and i7s, just with ~1ghz lower clock speeds than their desktop counterparts
>>
>>58405610
aren't they 15W only? It's not like they could be better
>>
>>58405659
Probably can't afford them on my rather small budget, they all seem to be U branded. Reason I asked about the i5 and i7 difference is that I'm going to have to make some compromises. Typically the i5's are more likely to have more ram and a SSD in them in this price range.

What is your budget and what are you primarily going to be using the laptop for?
>>

In my opinion, something used with these sort of specs would be better than pretty much any $600+ laptop that is out today.

The cpu in this computer is laptop is better than most laptops you will find today, plus it includes an ssd

Here is a good example of how the cpu stacks up.

£600 maximum ideally. Something that can handle some reasonably large size files in Photoshop and InDesign without slowing to a crawl after 6 months.
